So what's next 2nd half 2015 ?

I am enjoying my Nexus 6 so much the only anticipated thing I am looking forward to is what they release this year for it.

I will of course keep an eye on the 6S+ but nothing else device wise will steer me away from the N6 that I have seen as Stock Android is a must to be on this platform for me.

I hope that's true. I'd love to see increased competition. While I agree with you about Apple's shortcomings (been very vocal about what's lacking in both hardware and software), their branding is near unstoppable. And while Samsung's latest market share and profits reports aren't exactly glowing, are they really factoring in the S6/Edge success? I'd imagine as the year goes on, their reports will be be singing a different tune. I could be wrong though. Samsung's branding is also growing. I see commercials of the S6/Edge everywhere now. People are also talking about the new devices and are surprisingly well knowledged on what the S6 and Edge are about.

I do hope LG does well as I think they're one of the few that have the resources and gravitas to challenge Apple/Samsung. Motorola and Sony I'm not as confident. Motorola was acquired by Lenova last year and it'll be interesting to see how they handle future devices and releases. Won't this year's Moto X be the first true device released under their watch? While the Moto X series is charming and so far offer a decent device, they haven't really been making much of an impact. At least it doesn't seem so to me.

And while the Xperia Z3 (one of my favorite phones of last year; I came very close to getting one) has its strengths in battery life and waterproofing, Sony hasn't made much of a dent either in the competition. In fact, isn't Sony's mobile division in a bit of trouble? I know they're not giving up, but their latest still doesn't really induce confidence in buyers. And if they don't ever get their marketing going, they'll hardly make a dent either.

And we all know how HTC is doing/looking with the M9 (they just reported their worse April results).

Are there any other key players I'm missing? Don't get me wrong. I'm excited to see what Motorola and Sony and whoever else might bring to the table and hope they bring the heat.

Sony was in trouble, it is getting itself sorted now though, it seems to have a few new models planned.
But it absolutely needs to advertise, which it doesn't ever seem to know how to do?
They I think are going to come back as a major player one day, lots of people like their products and Sony's name is still trusted.
HTC are also doing well, and they do advertise quite a lot, they have a good TV ad campaign.

Apple we all know as you said is unstoppable with it's brand image and recognition and advertising.

LG also does advertise too.

Samsung has also advertised, has a good TV ad for the S6, but I see less of them around, although I think people who want Android do think Samsung?

As for Motorola, here in the UK? Don't think I see any of their phones? The majority are still Samsung and Apple but I do think Samsung at least are wavering.

I think I can scratch the Xperia Z3+ off my list of potentials for 2015.

It's now down to the new Moto X, Nexus 5, and iPhone 6S. The most hopeful one being the new Nexus 5. If Google can get the right upgrades to Android M, and then the right specs and price to the hardware, I could see myself leaving the S6.

If all three do not entice me, I would be fine sticking with the S6 until 2016 as well...

Sony are supposed to introducing a new Xperia phone on Thursday, supposedly a new flagship model, they have sent invites out for the event and claimed they will have engineers on hand at the event to discuss its new design!

So we will see what happens if anything. Otherwise I will scratch it off my list too and concentrate on the rumoured LG Nexus, but the specs for Microsoft's new flagships have also leaked, one of those is 5.2" with a 20mpx camera so that could be a potential maybe?

Ah I forgot about the new One Plus launch, apparently they have stated it will shake the industry....? Perhaps you'll need to be invited twice to buy one?

I understand the invite system is all they can manage given their small upstart company, but ya, it's a real turn off.

I really liked my one plus one last year and it'll be interesting to see what they bring to the table this year. But I doubt I'll switch.

Little can pull me away from the s6 this year. It really is, so far, the phone to beat. Hopefully maybe the new nexus 5. But like I mentioned, that'll largely depend on specs, value, and above all, android m.

Yeah its a good bit that I am looking forward too leading towards the 2nd half of the year...Note 5, iPhone 6S, New Nexus device, OnePlus 2. Just have to see what I get the sudden urge to get when all the devices starts to drop.

Until then I will hold on to my 6+ and im deciding which android phone I want to run on my second line.....Sometimes I hate that I love phones this much lol.

I can really see the Note 5 being so beast.

-Same design as the S6
-Implement an SD card slot similar to HTC's design.
-Include the 7420 processor.
-Keep the same 2K display, no need to go higher right now.
-Same camera sensor on the S6.

Just a few thoughts I think the Note 5 should include.

Well, no idea what happened to today but in the news nothing, not a dicky bird about a Sony announcement. So I guess all they've done is announce the Z3? And tests are showing already that the Z3 is throttling a bit, hmm that 810 CPU is a bit troublesome.

Vanilla Android bores me and the LG/Sony brands don't interest me in the slightest. HTC are always worth a look but they're the only manufacturers that draw me in.

I'm constantly hoping that Samsung finally comes through and brings out a foldable phablet 🙂

Small when folded for pocket storage or handheld usage. Much larger tablet sized area when unfolded.

Rumor is that they plan to come out with a model by the end of the year, but in extremely limited quantities. (I think they can only make something like 40,000 folding displays a month.) I don't care what it costs, and I don't care if it gets wacky after a few thousand folds. I'd still be first in line for something like this:



Another display provider has also shown off this 8.7" version that they folded three ways. Makes sense, as then you always have a section displayed even if folded up! (as shown about the 40 second mark, where it also turns on a side scrolling notification panel like the Samsung Edge has)

This stuff is coming. Some day. I want it! And I apologize for the interruption if you only meant announced devices 🙂

I want to jump on kdarling's bandwagon here. I want those foldable phablets!
I have seen all the Youtube videos and Samsung is truly innovating with bendable screens! I can't wait!
