I don't think you should be basing your decision on what your read in this "Complaints Box." While I am sure most of the problems reported here are really happening to those that post them, there are likely more than a million iPhone 4 owners who are nothing but 100% pleased with their purchase.

iPhone4 is not the New Coke. I do remember that reference. But then I think that Crystal Pepsi > Pepsi and Pepsi Throwback > Pepsi. But Soda/Pop/Coke references aside, I had the same choice. I got the iPhone 4. I had the reception issue but threw a case on it and it works wonderfully. The screen is amazing and I do notice the difference. No Prox Sensor Issues at all. Overall, I'm a happy camper.

Don't worry, I got it and I'm not that old ;)

For the record: I always thought New Coke tasted like watered down Pepsi... ick

Not that old? I'm 21, don't drink coke or pepsi, never have and I get the reference. I bet I'm younger than you. I don't even know how I know about that whole deal, but i do.

I tried to come up with some witty reference to 7up Gold or Clear Pepsi.. but I failed.

btw, get the 4, I love mine.

mmm Crystal Pepsi.

If you are really torn, go to an Apple store and play with both the 3GS and 4. You'll see for your own eyes how much better the 4 is.
