Interested to know what Apple's exchange policy is. If I exchange my 32 GB Wi-Fi for a 32GB Verizon LTE, what will it cost me?

Just $130 (plus tax) or is there some restocking fee involved here?

Also, can I transfer my AppleCare+ over?

just pay the $130 plus tax they will cancel your apple care you have now and reissue a new one.

Never mind. Already answered.

I'm actually thinking about doing the same thing, although I already have a 3G tablet that can tether.

Engadget also has story on Verizon maybe bringing shared data in 2012.

I bet if one does so the other will follow.

What I don't get is the gross disparity between the bottom layer data options between AT&T and Verizon. 250mb is not much, really only good for very limited usage such as ppl mostly on wifi. $20/1GB is decent, but sorta paled against the old $25/2Gb plan.

I think Verizon offering tethering on prepaid data is either disingenuous or really clever, not sure which. Folks are gonna smoke through those 1GB and 2GB data blocks.... :D

They need to have a $10/GB plan and just go from there. 250 MB is pretty useless. Not worth it. I wouldn't mind paying $10/ month for 1GB and if I go over it is another $10 for another GB. That would be pretty good I think.

When I waited in line yesterday, I was going to get the 16 GB Wifi.. At the last second I decided to get the AT&T 16 GB... Got home started to have buyers remorse and wanted to get Verizon.. Woke up and went back to exchange for Verizon.. And within a quick second I spit out at the end.. Make it a 32 GB..

I think I'm officially satisfied with my purchase. Did all the screen pixel/bleed test. No dead pixels. Very light bleed but nothing to cry about.

Black 32 GB Verizon iPad... $790.. But sooooooo satisfied. :p

LOL @ $790 for a tablet. I'm happy with my $489 16GB no tax

Oh trust me I am not insulted. still getting up to speed on the LTE thing. As for the 4G, I am pretty sure it is the HSPA+ in my local area. I think the symbol up top will change from 4G to LTE if LTE is available. If I have HSPA+ it will read 4G and if it isn't available it will probably change to 3G.

I looked on AT&Ts website for coverage in my area and it says 4G (not LTE since I think that is only in a few select cities at the moment, hence why I will probably go with a Verizon iPad next year since their LTE network is much larger). As long as I have 4G I am good. I can live with 3G even if I have to.

Okay well thats what i though, any replies saying thats not fast enough were thinking you were on LTE. But for ATT 3G/4G HSPA+ thats actually really good, the fastest possible is about 7, so yea unless you see a LTE icon and do a speediest at that point, your 3g/4g speeds are very good, and you have that coverage at that speed in more areas than either verizon or ATT's LTE networks offer. What city do you live in, as I know ATT did recently announce about 12 new LTE markets coming in the next 2 months. I would check to see before you swap it out.

Pikeville, NC which is a extremely small town. The small city near me is Goldsboro, NC, about an hour or so southeast of Raleigh.

I'd say really clever. Much better than AT&T.

I have a Verizon Moto Xoom LTE(being phased out in favor of the new iPad) and have never gone over the 2GB even with the occasional tethering to my laptop. I only use Verizon because of this feature. It's there when I need it.

Cheers,

I can only hope for shared data plans with the ipad and iphone. I still have a grandfathered unlimited plan with AT&T. :D
You can be sure when they come up with their "shared" plans they will be at least 2x the cost of individual plans and that it won't include the now limited to 3GB unlimited plan. It will be a totally different plan so you would have to choose between shared family plan and your 3GB unlimited. It will probably be setup to benefit those with 3 or more devices. ATT & VZW etc never do anything that benefits the users, only themselves.

Yeah, but that one has twice the storage and can connect to the Internet where there is no wifi. I mean, for some people that is worth more than $300.
And has GPS.

Does anyone have a link to how I can do these tests?

Something like this happened to me yesterday. I got in line for an exchange for an exchange. I was going to get a 32GB AT&T. But when the Apple guy was giving me my card and asked me what I wanted, I just spit out 64GB Black Verizon, without even thinking. Probably because I already have a AT&T LTE hotspot.
