I can't believe you guys are smashing the iPhone coming out for Verizon because it can't do Data+Talk. Last time I checked, Verizon has:

1) More people on their network
2) More reliable coverage
3) I think it has been mentioned before, it is shown in every study to be the #1 cell service provider in customer service and satisfaction (AT&T last)

Verizon has made it this far without Data+Voice so I think it's safe to assume they're going to be just fine.

There are positives and negatives but disregarding the potential greatness of the iPhone coming out for Verizon b/c of Data+Voice is ignorant. Look at the big picture and realize that Verizon users are use to this "lack-of-feature."

Pretty sure I thought if they came out with the phone it'd be in June. My buying strategy was also based on this theory. Now I can wait until June because of contract limitations (funny how I seem to understand what a contract is) and if they come out with another phone using LTE then I'll be in hog heaven.

iPhone on verizon is going to suck, one of the great features is left out (talk and browse which I use constantly) it's CDMA only so you cant take it anywhere outside the US and who honestly gives a damn about mobile hot spot oh wow five people can link up to my phone and use my Internet! What happens when you get a phone call and the connection drops! Booooooo FAIL

Just like every other inferior to an iPhone 4 on Verizon.. if that inferior device even supports hotspots. It's funny how everyone is bringing up the surf and talk point, anyone care to talk about making phone calls or should I say dropping calls - the things PHONES are suppose to do.

Bottom line is 92 million people deal with it daily & I think Verizon IP4 users will manage.

People get over it, its coming to Verizon... and im happy!

I'll play Devils Advocate ........

The whole no simultaneous Voice & Data not being a big enough talking point is complete crap, at least in MacRumors and other forums. Not that anyone should be a complete dick about it, but to sweep it under the rug as if it's not a disadvantage is retarded.

The iPhone has been criticized for every little slightest infraction from iOS, hardware, down to ATT's network itself.

Now that the iPhone has some pros on ATT vs Verizon, so many are quick to down play it.

Sure in real life some of the pros & cons might not mean much to the average user. But I've already seen the same users that in the past have posted complicated benchmark links against the iPhone and now all of the sudden claim simultaneous Voice & Data doesn't mean anything.

Just admit it's a minor setback.

Yeah there were sooooo many folks in this forum that took the position that the Verizon iPhone would NEVER happen. Lots of crow was ate today.

I'm pretty sure you were the biggest Verizon iPhone naysayer of them all.

I'm not being forced to get one, I just don't understand why everyone is making a big deal about nothing

Many consider having the iPhone on another US carrier with superior 3G coverage significant. If you don't WGAS, WGAF.

Next.

They are all trying to find ways to make it look like they don't care that they were wrong. "Ahhh, so what?? Move on, no big deal." They sure thought it was a big deal when they were saying nay all these months. Now they have to try and save face.

I'll have my crow served cold, thanks. Maybe with a pinch of salt.

I'm here.

I expect the "No Verizon iPhone" crowd is going to immediately turn into the "you can't use voice and data" crowd very quickly.

Although I don't think I can personally recall any time I have browsed the web in the middle of a call, but ymmv.

Just saw this on my twitter feed from @mosspuppet (via sofiafontes)

To clarify: today's announcement doesn't vindicate pundits who've been predicting the Verizon would be released "next week" for 2 years.

After so many false rumors for the last couple of years, can't blame anyone who was waiting until it was really announced to believe it. I'm glad it finally happened, competition can only be good. We'll wait until the summer phones to decide if we change carriers or not, we need international and data and phone both at the same time so those are dealbreakers for us for Verizon right now.

It's a little bit really late. I returned my iPhone 4 anticipating buying iPhone 5 (sans antenna failure) without a $235 ETF.

I'll be switching to vPhone 5 by the end of Summer.

He was. A lot of his logic was making perfect sense, but he was wrong. As was I, I thought it seemed highly unlikely we'd see a release in February. Crazier things have happened I guess. :D

I've been on Verizon for several years and have had a Storm since it came out and a Storm 2 since it came out and I think I can think of 1 instance I thought that would be a nice feature. This is something that is not important to me. A reliable network is the most important thing to me as I do quite a bit of driving for work. To each his own and if that is an important feature to you then don't go to Verizon and stay with AT&T, especially if you are lucky enough to be in an area where it is reliable.

Everybody here knows you are smack in the middle of the AT&T side, bent over so deeply you can't even see your shoes.

At least now we'll be able to recieve calls.

Not everyone who has at&t has signal issues. Can you say every Verizon customer never has a signal issue? No you can't because I was one of them and because of work I have them again and drop calls left and right.
