WITHOUT BEING FLUFFLY

If i had siri i think i would just be silly with it i am sure everyone has asked a crazy question to see a reply that would be my use

you can tell from my signature i dont have anything siri

I keep it switched off permanently since it kept activating while the phone was in my pocket. Tried it a few times when I first got the phone but definitely a non user.

I mainly use it for checking scores of games or quick and simple searches if my friends and i have a disagreement or question that we can't answer. Cool concept but not entirely practical for my own personal use, i'd rather type out my messages and set my reminders and alarms myself to ensure i didn't mess anything up

It's way easier/faster to use Siri to set up appointments and reminders than entering it manually. I'd much rather use siri for messages and emails than have to type them on a touch screen. It's not so bad on the iPad because you can type with both hands and 10 fingers, but Siri is really useful on the hand held.

I use it for calculations, reminders, notes, alarms and texting. I think it's a very handy feature, I love it.

Everyday. It's way easier to say, "remind me in a month to get my allergy shot" than to enter the app, type in the reminder, select "remind me on a day" then select one month. Same for alarms.

I use it in the car. Great for navigation... "Take me to xxx address"

Car is probably the only time I use Siri, such as navigation (take me home), phone call, and finding where my family is (where is my wife).

I would use it a lot more if it accepted text entry. It really should replace Spotlight search.

Like others, in the car using my bluetooth headset(to my touch), read and send texts plus adding things to reminders, which then get sucked into omnifocus.

My drive home is when i reflect on stuff during my work day and it allows me to capture anything i've forgotten to do.

I use it in the car for navigation, to set timers, and to look up movie times. That's about it lol, definitely a feature I could live without but it's nice to have occasionally.

I use Siri everyday. Fall/winter tends to get pretty chilly and the ability to send/read texts, make/receive calls, and check other things like appointments all without needing to take my hands out of my pockets is very convenient.

As I wrote in similar threads:
I use Siri daily.

It's extremely helpful with alarms, reminders, and pretty much for anything while driving; make calls, take down notes, or simply having it read an article.

I've found if I keep the notation somewhat short - one to two sentences at a time, it rarely gives me problems.

Since I originally wrote that, if anything, I use Siri more than I did then since they've added new features to it.

I use it for reminders, calendar events, alarms, timers and sometimes just general questions and even the weather :p. I don't use it to send texts because it usually makes at least one mistakes, and I spend even longer correcting it.

I almost never use it, and lately the google app on iPhone has a voice option which seems to work brilliantly for anything that doesn't require integrating with the iOS.

I use it daily for:

Travel (finding this store or that restaurant)
Setting Alarms
Texting from the Car
Other hands free car stuff like playing music and sending emails.

Siri was pretty useful. A lot easier to set alarms and make reminders using it.

And then, I discovered you can use the earphone/earbud microphones to bring it up and interact with it. Changed everything. Now I use it when I'm walking late at night to read and send messages, check scores, create calendar events, and change music. I like not having to take my phone out when walking.

Things I hope they add for next iteration:
- Changing settings: I can kind of understand a line of reasoning why they wouldn't (so people couldn't mess with it), but I think it would be good if they added some kind of voice password or something.
- TV Shows: please
- Reading your emails out to you: last time I asked Siri to read my new emails, she couldn't do it so I'm assuming it's not a feature
- Better notes integration: be able to easily append to a note rather than having to create a new one
- Third-party integration: unless I'm missing it from the Apple libraries (developer here), I can't see any sort of Siri libraries. So yeah.

Great feature though. Moving from a 4 to a 5 was made all the better with Siri.

Very true...and something Apple should be ashamed of.

I've found Google Search to work better, faster, be more accurate, have a better understanding of plain English, and sound far more 'human' than Siri.

I think Google did a great service to Apple. It gave them something to strive to beat. I find for searching for facts Google Search works better, but it will never be able to control the phone like Siri can.

I use it all the time to call people, set reminders and note stuff. I could care less what people think. Phones are meant to be talked to and saying "Call ____" sure beats searching through the contact app and typing thing reminders. Sometimes I use Siri for converting random units.

I use it far more than I ever thought.

To make most of my phone calls
To call businesses not in my address book
Set reminders and meetings
Sent texts and have text conversations via dictation
Send emails
Make table reservations where applicable <--very useful at the restaurant I freq
Navigation
Weather reports
Timer for a variety of uses
Scores of college games, but wish Siri knew about collegiate wrestling
Misc info via wolfram
Play music

Anyone use it to search the Apple Store yet? I'm going to give it a try right now.

****I was about to create a thread on Siri but saw this first. Not to take this off topic, but I think I've noticed a dramatic increase in Siri responsiveness. I still find myself waiting a few times but those instances have significantly decreased. Anyone else feel this way?

Agreed. Much more responsive lately. Working very well. I use it a lot in the car and to check sports scores. Really enjoy using Siri.
