I sleep with mine under my pillow and with ear buds. My mind wont shut off at night so I HAVE to have some sort of music or talk radio to lull me to sleep. Used to use my psp for that but it bit the bullet a couple months ago.
Haven't had any problems until just yesterday when i forgot and left it there all day streaming from itunes. Picked it up and nearly dropped it because it was insanely hot! It wouldn't boot due to low batt, so i chilled it back down, plugged it in and charged it. Seems fine now, but wow. Even though it usually seems to stay cool throughout the night i'm not so sure i will be doing that anymore!!

I've fallen asleep with my first-generation iPad at least once while on the couch, and at least once with my iPhone 3GS too. At least it didn't end up shattered on the floor...

You need to buy the iAntiSmother app for your wife's iPad, it starts screeching whenever a smother is detected....:cool::cool:

I always set my iPad 2 on my nightstand and plug it in when I'm finished with it for the night and on the same nightstand I usually have a glass of water. I'm always scared I'm going to roll over at night and knock the glass of water over onto it, which has happened in the past without the iPad being there. So now I put the iPad as far away from me as possible and the glass of water out of normal arm's length...;);)

Was on top last night

Unfortunately even with a Queen size bed I still managed to roll over on top of my iPad 3 last night, haha.
Lucky for me the smart cover was closed, and there was a comforter between us.

Googled this question, to see if others have done it before.

As far as I know, it's working fine :)

I listen to otr at night but the ipad3 is on the nightstand. But ifall asleep with my bluetooth motorola 305 headphones onand is that ever painful. I usually wake up to take them off.

i fell asleep and woke up to a bang when it fell behind the bead and slammed into the baseboard heater. luckily it's in a case and there wasn't a dent, scruff, or scratch on the aluminum enclose

haha

WOW. I guess that I'm the ONLY one who invested in one of these doo-hickeys!!!
I don't have to worry about ANY of the problems you guys have reported! I read my comics and watch youtube with NO WORRIES WHATSOEVER. I f I fall asleep, I have NOTHING to worry about--when I wake up later on, I simply bend it out to the way! I HIGHLY recommend it!!! You'll wonder how you lived without it! TRUST ME!!

(The thought of me dropping ANY of my electronics is too much to bear!)

Frequently, and hit on the nose hard, twice now, when it fell out of my hands. Which makes a mini iPad very tempting ---it'll be lighter weight and hurt less, right?

Mine also likes to gun for my nose when it catches me drifting off :p I think I'm more worried about my nose being broken than my iPad :p

Been using my ipad, for the past couple of nights lately... Not bothered to charge my ipod touch and the touch generally annoys me with its slowness.. I've only fell asleep on my laptop once. I doubt I'll fall asleep with an iPad, but it could happen. That time I slept while on my laptop, was when I had what 4 hours of sleep and I had a looong day. Once I'm done with the iPad i put it under the other pillow and make sure i don't sleep on top of it. It has a smart case.

My bed is 3" from the floor so I don't have to worry about it being dropped, but as for sleeping on my iPad that's never happened...yet. I'm in bed with my iPad than I've been in bed with my wifey :p , but that's only because she lives overseas :p

my worst fear is sleeping with my iPad and knocking it off my bed.

Haha i did this the very first day of owning it. And I've done it several times after. But it still works as new! The thing is pretty solid.

Be careful if you fall asleep with your iPad. We don't want loads of little iPhones running around now, do we? ;) And be sure to use protection. I've been tempted to take my MacBook Air to bed loads of times but he's unprotected and I'd have loads of iPad Minis running around

My dog (who is often inviting herself into the bed) frequently stands on my iPad, but what has happened to me relevant to the OP is that I lay in bed holding the iPad above my head and dropping it onto my face.

Done this twice.
