why wait this long? by the time you get it, 6-7 months later the iphone 5 will be out and you wont be eligible to upgrade. But to each their own I guess.

I wanted a white one initially but since it wasn't available, I got the black one. I agree with everyone that says that by the time the white one is available, it'll only be 6-7 months till a brand new one comes out. I like the black i4 but it would be cool if Apple had more than one "available" color.

come pre-order day, it wasn't available. I even went as far as emailing SJ about it asking if I could exchange white for black once its available, I of course did not get a reply back. So then after hours of thinking back and forth I just ordered the black with the hopes that the white would be available within 2-3 weeks after the black, so I could exchange it. Now to find out it won't be available until later this year, which in Apple time means December 29th.
Glad I got black, it looks fiiiiiine.....don't worry.

I picked up a black one after the we will launch white whenever we feel like it date, but i'm still disappointed. No antenna problems my phone just randomly disconnects you when I talk to you on the phone. Proximity problems!!, restore and network resets havent worked. I'll give it 25 days and then im returning it. The iPhone 4 launch has been the most disapointing so far. Seriously steve dissapointing. Antennagate, proximity, and worst of all NO WHITE iPhone..... terrible!!!

i'm still waiting for a white one, and my 3G's glass is shattered but im sticking with it until its dying breath 😉
If it's not going to be out until christmas, then i'm wondering whether apple should bother.

My mom's still waiting for the white. I broke down & bought the black. I'm a little impatient. 😛 We were going to trade as soon as she got it, because she doesn't care about color.
I don't think as many people will purchase it if it comes out later than September. I wouldn't see the point in buying it that late. New iPhone models have been released once a year, so why not hold out for the iPhone 5 in white at that point?

I know. I've committed myself to buying the new iPhones on launch day or close to it so I am eligible to upgrade every year. It's rough enough to have had to wait so long to get the white model and that just adds insult to injury.

I was SO looking forward to getting a white one at launch and was really kind of angry when it wasn't available. I mean, could they have pimped the white one more during WWDC? It was the bumper model, it was the one all of the journalists and reviewers got to play with, etc.
Still, I'm all about instant gratification, so I went ahead and got the black. Decided it wasn't worth the wait, as I'd doubtlessly have a case and/or skin on it anyway, and if I was that desperate to get white, I'd just go ahead and get a white Gelaskin and call it a day. Still might.

i'm still waiting for the white one. however long it takes.
for me, it's not a matter of waiting so long that it's not worth it for me since the updated iphone (5) might be coming out next summer. it's more of a power of the consumer principle. i won't give my money to apple for something that i need to "settle for".
