Oh me because I REALLY want to carry two devices instead of one and spend almost as much money for the same functionality minus a phone and a really good camera!!!!

Where I do sign up for my "I iz a Genius" t-shirt????

Actually it can.

Video recording, HD (720p) up to 30 frames per second with audio; still photos (960 x 720) with back camera

Note, however, that the resolution size is much smaller than the iPhone 4's.

LOL, that's just a tad less than the resolution of THIS little gem from Fisher-Price:

The iTouch has always been way to expensive for what you get and the new revision hasn't changed that.

 What do you mean that it is too expensive for what you get??? The iphone costs over twice as much @ $599 + $699! I'd love to by the new iphone without contract for $299....geez

the iphone looks like brick compared to the touch, and I think the metall back is beautiful, the ip4 back scratch also easily, but you just see it more on the touch, it's still more resistent than the glass back of the ip4

I have an iPhone 4 and an iPod Touch (3rd gen.), and I have to say, the back of the Touch will scratch if you look at it wrong. The back of the iPhone is way better at holding off scratches.

I think the new Ipod Touch is great!

It's a lot more feature packed then I thought it would be.

For the price its amazing, it's missing:

3g
GPS
Good Camera
Flash (for camera lol)

But it has:

Retina Display (awesome!)
A4 (awesome!) (probably 512 ram)
Front camera (facetime obviously, but skype as well, no?)
Back Camera
HD video (how will this compare to Iphone's HD video?)
Gyro (I read somewhere)

etc

It has a lot more than it doesn't.

They made it an incredible device that will sell a ton, but without making it a viable alternative to the Iphone.

It is basically the Iphone for kids. It can play games just as well as the Iphone, can browse the internet, video talk and a ton of other things.

But it's missing the monthly bill, navigation ability, push email everywhere, etc, that adults need and crave.

It's a much better gift than the iPhone, since it doesn't come attached with a debt :)

To answer your question my family is gonna keep all 4 of our new iPhone 4s.

never givin up my iphone4, dont care how many "issues" the media and the haters wanna make up... Still one of the most solid phones I have ever owned.

New iPod Touch = iPhone 4 - phone

:)

A) and gps, and 3G modem, and 5 mp camera with flash.
B) a phone is a pretty key feature.

I carry both my iPhone and a bb for work, and for people who like to travel light, as I do, having that extra device is annoying. So if you can have it all in an ip4, I wouldn't recommend going with an iPod touch and another phone. Plus, a huge part of the iPhone's appeal is always-on Internet - I'd lose so much functionality with an iPod touch.

I already carry two phones… no way I'm going to return my iPhone and have to carry 3 devices.

I can live with a few scratches on my touch compared to having it crack from being glass.

The chrome back of the iPod has always been it's achilles heel.

No matter how much you look after it, it will get scratched or scuffed sliding it in and out of a case, your pocket (with nothing else in it). That's from experience of owning, and molly coddling, every iPod I owned since my first (which was the second gen original).

The iPhone 4 will only crack if you're stupid enough to drop it and it's not in a case.
