I'm not sure. I was about to pre-order when I got the the pricing details (after selecting the plans). They want to charge $18 for activation and another $18 for "upgrade fee."

I just might keep using my 2G iPhone after all. $36 in BS fees - BAH!

I'm confused. I have a 2G also. Wouldn't this be worth it?

I thought 2G iPhone users wouldn't get all the 3.0 software features like 3G iPhone users.

With the new plan, wouldn't you get a new 16G for $199 & $36 fees, plus the 3.0 software?

That beats the regular 2G doesn't it?

Ditto. The new stuff -video and voice control, mainly- is not a compelling enough reason to upgrade from my white 3G.

Just curious, what would have been compelling enough for you to upgrade?

If you are still on a 2G and looking to upgrade - DO IT!! It is night and day when it comes to surfing and such. The screen is so much richer in color and the phone actually feels better in your hand with the rounded back. I am speaking of course from using my 3G. The new iphone will be just that much better. I was so anti- iphone 3G and loved my 2G but after upgrading I could never go back.

My self my parents my 5 brothers and sisters my wife and my brothers girl friend

You can count all ten of us out.

I know the site says arrives on the 19th but I just got my order confirmation email and its saying that it ships on the 19th and delivers on the 24th. I know this is just an estimation but hopefully it's wrong.

PS. I bought the 16GB white 3G S and it cost me $422.94 after tax. I bought my 3G in mid November, just incase anyone was wondering.

Same boat here. Ordered as soon as the page would allow me to, and on my receipt I printed on the site after order it says "Delivers by June 19th"

However my emailed receipt says "Delivers June 24th"...

If you follow up with Apple let me know please, I'm going to later today as well when it calms down. I'm hoping this is just an error and it will be at my house on the 19th.

Were any changes to the monthly data/voice costs announced? I've been on the sidelines hoping that the data costs, in particular, would come down.

Just pre-ordered 16GB black 3GS online also..Selling my 1st gen 8GB very soon :)

I'm holding out for the next revision. The macbook pro updates were nice though.

Yes, the Macbook Pro 15" brought everything I wanted.

I get to use the 3GS because my girlfriend is upgrading from the EDGE iPhone. I don't see a reason since I'm not upgrade eligible. When I do become eligible in March, I'll hold out for the next (2010) iPhone.

Great features on the 3GS though. And the new processor in the 3GS demo video makes switching apps look easier and faster than on the Pre. Still a couple of advantages to Pre's multitasking, but too much else is lacking.

I will not be getting this one. I will however keep my eyes peeled for a refurbished 16gb 3g on At&t site and give my 8gb 3G to my wife.

this is how I measure it up.

Camera: Never really use. Video , will never use. ( I have a GL1 Canon)
Compass: C'mon now, will NEVER use, ever.
Faster Speeds: well perhaps processing however that was never an issue with the 3 g for me. And as for internet speeds etc.. it's still the same sorry as At&t so that will not change. I barely get 3g anyhow and Im in Phx AZ!

Voice commands: Google app works fine for me.

so the only possible upgrade for me is, perhaps better headphones and battery life and thinner. nice but I think I'll wait till next year. ( unless the make it $199 )

and they lowered the prices of the MBPs. That was the highlight of the day.

The $36 is pure profit for ATT, give-away by us. Where's the "loyal customer discount" that cell carriers used to give? It cost them nothing to send SMS messages, but look at the fees for that - more profit. They can waive "activation fees" and such. WTF is activation anyway? Someone taking 2 minutes to type in some numbers on a computer Reminds me of college when, after the first 2 weeks, to drop a class we had to PAY for that service...no tuition refund for the class...they kept the money and charged a fee on top of it. This is the same thing. GGGrrrrrrr

Who am I kidding...I may not get it next week, but I'll cave. :)

i pre ordered the 32gb black almost an hour ago (didnt have any trouble with the site) even qualified for the credit card and used that so i get 90 days same as cash. But I have yet to get my confirmation email.

also mine does say "delivers on the 19th" but we will see.....

I ordered mine and I'm having it shipped to my house. Don't want to wait in line to have them say they were sold out even though I reserved it. I got my email saying I will get my iphone 3gs on 6/23

Right Palm is finished, lets see how many buyers will go for a Pre when they get an 8 gb iphone for 99 bucks.

I wouldn't be surprised if there was a longer line for the $99 phone than the two new ones. Possibly people who were waiting to see the Pre and then decided to go with the iPhone (not to dis the Pre. competition is always a good thing).
