Hurry, prime time to sell was a month ago, before rumors confirmed what we know now. Anyone who continues to wait will get less money from the sale.

Confirmed rumors huh? Nothing is confirmed.

I just listed it. 24 hour auction. Fingers crossed, so nervous right now. :(

D'oh. Why 24 hours? Always nice to build up a bit of demand with a nice 5 day lead!

Sounds like you're going to rush into this and get a low price, then you'll be waiting 4 months before you can actually buy a replacement.

Questions to ask yourself:
How much is the use of an iPad worth to you? A dollar a day?

How much less would you get if you sold in 4 months. $120? Less? More?

I actually think the ownership and usefulness of the device over that period is going to be worth more than the potential loss. But 'YMMV'! ;)

Please do come back and tell us what your sale price was!

Actually, the current bid is at $560 USD with still 18 hours to go (6 hours into the auction), so I'm not too worried. I set myself a goal of about 600-700 for this, so it's looking likely I'll reach it. I kept it in mint condition for this long just so I can make good on reselling.

Questions:

a) My iPad is worth a lot to me. I'm already feeling like it's gone as I've factory restored it and accepted I might not have one for at least another month to two months. It's part of my daily routine, but I think I can manage without it for a few months (it won't be easy though)

b) I'd probably get less after the 2nd gen was announced. Most people don't read up on rumours like we do here on MR, and some are content with something that "just works" (like my parents and some friends, they don't get why I keep upgrading my gadgets!)

c) You might be right on that, but being able to purchase the 2nd gen I want with the amount I'm going to receive means more than being without it for a month or two and digging into my pocket. I'm a college student that works three separate jobs to get all this Apple stuff, so any loss is a loss to me (and my bank account lol) when taking into account the other stuff I will sell off/upgrade (waiting for Sandy Bridge to replace my 2008 iMac, that'll probably set me back a bit :p)

I will let you guys know what the sale price will be, but I'm pretty optimistic. I've also found that including "unlocked" in the title/description for the 3G iPad helps A LOT. People love to buy unlocked gadgets, let them be iPhones or other smartphones, and this attracted some more bids after I edited the listing.

:)

ipad will turn into gift if i get something else.

i will likely buy a honeycomb tablet. the xoom or the g slate. unless the battery life is significantly worse than the ipad.

if the ipad2 is a weak upgrade, i may skip it. i am starting to get the feeling the ipad2 will be dwarfed by its competitors. i bet the ipad3 is being drawn up now.

My 64GB Wifi iPad is perfect for me. I could care less about Facetime. I think I've used maybe 2 or 3 times on my iPhone and that was only to play around. I don't need a faster processor or more RAM (better ram management would be great though. They really need to fix safari, but that is merely a software fix).

So in other words, I have absolutely no reason to upgrade. Then again, I was thinking the same thing about my 3Gs ;) But no, I won't upgrade.

Honestly, I love the flat back/tapered edges form factor, and that combined with a lighter shell and longer battery life/higher resolution screen would be awesome. :)

I'm the opposite. I'm looking to buy a 1st generation iPad on ebay with unlimited data sim. They are going for about 1k for a 16GB which is crazy IMO, but hopefully they go down with upcoming iPad 2. If anyone is selling an iPad (any size memory) with unlimited data SIM PM me!

Update on my situation, for anyone who cares:

Auction ended 20 minutes ago, final total came up to $663 USD, which I'm pretty damn happy about. The model is the 32GB 3G, and I even threw in my little used camera connection kit and dock (so total retail value of about $790 USD). Best decision I made was to make this a 24-hour auction (no reserve, no buy it now, starting bid at 0.99)

All in all, the loss was (imo) acceptable, and it gives me enough to get the next gen iPad. Now for the buyer to pay! :D

And then a long, excruciating period of weeks or months without an iPad while you wait for the new one to come out, while those of us who didn't sell are still enjoying ours. ;)

Quit rubbing it in!

Not selling. This thing is rock solid and doesn't get the same wear and tear a phone does. Ill wait for the iPad 3 and even then this iPad might just go to someone else in the family.

I always sold my iPhone because I could get unlocked prices for it and then pick up a new one on contract and make $150+ in my pocket every upgrade. Since the iPad isn't subsidized there isn't the same incentive.

I'm probably keeping mine. I dont even know if I will want iPad2 yet.
I still have the original iPhone with the box.
They will make a nice pair.

Just got a 64GB iPad 3G here yesterday and couldn't be happier. The 16GB model is fully subsidized (only pay for the unlimited 3G service) here in Japan by the carrier (Softbank) and the 64GB only comes to like $200 broken over 24 payments.

I'm sure this campaign is entirely to clear stock for the new model but I couldn't care less. I don't need to be on the bleeding edge for the sake of being on the bleeding edge. Let others do the beta testing and I'll get the 2G when the contract on this one ends. :p

need to sell mine so I can go see my 90 year old mom, do not have the funds until it sells. Damn poor time it is.
