So why can't the iPhone control a PS3?

It doesn't seem impossible to me or even unreasonable. Bluetooth is encrypted so either no one can break it or Apple won't allow the app because it would take cracking Sony code to do it.

Id Sony were to produce and app they would be shooting themselves in the foot by killing their own remote sales. I think they get 25$ each and can't cost more than 5$ to make. Then again maybe the ability to do so would drive sales (speculating).

I'd like to be able to activate and view the Eye Cam from my remote like one can do on the PSP.

I'm sure it's technically possible, but without jailbreaking it'll probably be almost impossible, as it seems Apple keep a close eye on what bluetooth's being used for.

But I guess the question that others have illuded to, is why? I also have a PS3, and the PS3 controller is much better as a games controller than the iPhone ever will....

I suppose in theory it could be done as a jb app. Why don't you try writing one ? If you did, I would probably buy it.

Aha, that makes much more sense now! I have to imagine that both Sony and Apple would butt heads on that idea. I don't necessarily agree with that, but I doubt it will happen.

Yeah, probably wouldn't happen officially, but maybe through JB? Bah, I wish someone would try it
