What Social Networking Sites Do You Use?

I have a MySpace like most of the rest of the internet connected world.

Getting into Facebook now, as I am a new member of that site. Found a load of old friends almost immediately.

I did have Hi5, but they deleted my account for some reason.

I used cork'd and LinkedIn (although I rarely use LinkedIn unless I'm looking for a new job). Beyond that, not much social networking, really....things like digg and ma.gnolia, but I don't think those count as "networking" so much...

I got a FaceBook account around 2 weeks ago. It's effing awesome, and so much better than the other "older" ones like Friendster, Hi5, etc. They suck, but I still look at Friendster on occasion even though it's hard to communicate with the friends you already have, let alone new people. It's essentially just a long list of your friends, but you never really contact them or socialise with them in any way. It suuuucks.

Anyway, I got like 60 friends right now, which is more friends than I have on Friendster and Hi5 combined, and I had those 2 aco****s for far longer than 2 weeks.

I don't know exactly what constitutes a Social Networking site, but in addition to LinkedIn, I like 43 Things and its offshoots.

MySpace seems like a wasteland the times I've looked around there, and I just haven't looked into Facebook or some of the other mentioned here. I think those are probably geared towards younger people.

Facebook is great. I think it's better now than before in terms of functionality. But I do reminisce about when it was just a few schools. I've had facebook for nearly 4 years now.

I've basically closed off my profile to anyone who isn't my friend. People in my network can see basic details, but no wall, photos, etc.

Facebook is getting crazier with all the new apps. But you don't need to install them and I just ignore requests from the apps of my friends.

Facebook is actually a great way to stay in touch with people. Some people use it to "amass" friends. I'm perfectly happy with having < 100 real friends and just staying in touch.

Is there anyway to block the app requests?

I used to have both but then I cancelled my Myspace and just stuck with facebook for awhile. Then I realized that it really wasn't doing anything for me. I mean just to check out friends profiles and see what comments their friends are making about them (of whom I may or may not know) is just meh. I also don't like seeing all the dirty laundry thats on those sites. And let me tell you I have seen it. It's crazy to see what people will post.

I think you can block the app which intern you will no longer get a request. So next time you get one, just take the extra time and block it.

It's nice though, even with all these new apps (which I hate), FB doesn't seem to load any slower. Maybe its because I am using the uber fast Safari 3.:p

Put up another vote for facebook! I absolutely hate myspace, it is garbage. For some reason it is always ungodly slow for me and error messages are a constant problem. Plus it is just so "gross" feeling for me, people have such horrible taste, pages with pictures, animated gifs, bad music, BLAH! Facebook is more organized and tidy, and it actually works also :)

I've got a myspace and virb. I prefer the look and feel of virb, but my pages on both myspace and virb are underdeveloped because I spend too much time on here. :p

I think you are the only one who likes Myspace.

Maybe. But I like Mac's so it all evens out ;)

I'm not sure what SG is either. Maybe Suicide Girls, which has a big online social community. I'm not on it because you have to pay, but I have friends who socialize on that. I tried Friendster and Hi5 but didn't care for either of them.

I use Flickr, Twitter and Last.fm on a regular basis

Back in the day I used Friendster quite actively.

I also have a MySpace and Bebo but that's just to read other people's profiles.

I have facebook, although I don't quite get those new applet things...I got it because it's quite like Flickr in its photo-sharing stuff :)

I see you are into conspiracy theories.

If you mean that like, I play with G.I. Joe's then:
-I think people don't know what value privacy has. And the government wont' see a problem with illegal wiretapping when Johnny and Jill are telling **** knows who they _______________ last weekend. I like being private, not because I have something to hide, but because I know people get the wrong impression in 5 seconds, but it might take years to get to know me.

If you mean that like, the richest people and the people with the most influence in the world have an agenda to take over the world because, well, they can, then ya. I fully think those people are sick in the head and would stomp all over our lives to achieve whatever fantasy they live in.

For example, people that believe in religion. Will do whatever it takes to back up their fantasy world and make it all true. The "elitists'" religion is money. And they will do whatever it takes to make sure you think the world needs money. And not just any money, but the money they print. Hmm. They enslave people in currency. And then tax us on their currency. Check out for yourself how much *cough* good the world bank has done for poor countries. Oh, yeah. They own those countries now.

I hate facebook and myspace with all my rage.

Firstly, they don't work properly with my mac.
Secondly, I have too many enemies and friends who are enemies of the others. So I can't have them together at the same time.
Finally, I wish these websites disappear in the ether.
