What Social Networking Sites Do You Use?

I hate facebook and myspace with all my rage.

Firstly, they don't work properly with my mac.
Secondly, I have too many enemies and friends who are enemies of the others. So I can't have them together at the same time.
Finally, I wish these websites disappear in the ether.
FB doesn't work on your mac? What browser do you use? I've never had any issues with it and I've used virtually every browser under the sun...

I use Facebook regularly and Myspace on occasion because it's just easier to see what friends are up to and communicate with them when they're not online.

And you don't need to actually hang out with people anymore. When I see someone has a birthday, I just have to type in birthday wishes on their wall rather than call them and see them in person. Rather than spend quality time with one person for a few hours, I can spend that time commenting on dozens of people. Talk about efficient.

Of course, I'm being facetious. Although, I am looking forward to the point where these social networking cites become virtual graveyards/time capsule(it's already happened to Friendster). Mark Maron made a good point on Conan. He said, one day aliens will come down and discover a server with myspace on it and say to themselves, "wow, a society where every single person thought they were important."

I think you are the only one who likes Myspace.

not true. i also happen to like it very much. maybe that's because my friends aren't all 13 year old girls who need to put "sparkles" on their pages. there are only a select 10 or so people who i keep in touch with via MySpace anyway. they all happen to have nice, simple, clean pages. :p

i use facebook as well, but it's just too plain for me. i'm a wee bit happier with it now that the "extended info" app has been made available; i feel like i can make my page more...i dont know..."me". :)

I have used friendster and orkut since the early days, sort of waiting for them to come up with features that would actually make them useful for *something*.

Five years later and after adding myspace and facebook because friends told me they were "much better" I am still basically waiting for anyone to develop a killer app that would actually take advantage of people's established networks for something useful. Something... anything. I'm still waiting, and really not using these sites for anything anymore.

The only ones I find useful are LinkedIn and last.fm, which as a big music fan I find fantastic.

What is so good about Orkut?

Another vote for Facebook.

I have a Myspace account too, but the only reason I do is so people from high school can get in contact with me since most of them don't have Facebook.

And like most people, I agree that these Apps on Facebook have gone overboard. It's not so much that (like Myspace) they cause errors in the page loading, it's more an issue of cluttering up the page along with the countless invites I get everyday to add different apps.

Would any one classify MR as a social networking site?t

I wouldn't, this is more of a discussion group sort of thing. If I classified every message board I posted at as a social networking site..that would be a long list. Though you are right in some ways.

Facebook is better, because it was based on sharing picture, something I would not get to see if I was not on the site. Still with these new Apps, I'm not a huge fan of FB anymore.

I don't enjoy many of the Apps, many friends have turned their FB into a Myspace with all these ridiculous apps that bloats the interface it once had. Even though I use FB exclusively, there have been changes that I do not enjoy:
1. The expansion of Networks to High Schoolers (no offence, but most of them have myspace style profiles now, just stay on myspace then)
2. The mini-feed, I've always liked it but lots don't.
3. The inclusion of Apps, many are pointless, stupid, bloat the pages, and are just bleh.
4. I hope that facebook tries to differentiate itself from myspace more as it once was.
