best update ever! now if they enable audio over mini displayport for my 2009 mbp
I think that is hardware. Not software.
hmmm dammit i want both 3 finger swipe to nav. in my browser and 3 finger gesture to move windows as well...decisions decisions.....

jiTouch has application specific shortcuts. I love it, and it's worth the money.

what about the late 2009 MBP 13 inch? does it work? i see no reason gainst but its not listed there
Works.

Wtf is wrong with you?

I'm slightly confused! Has anyone got this working on a poly MB?

I have the last poly (mid-2009) before the white unibody came out in October. That was when the alu MB became the MBP. So the only MB in mid-2009 was the white poly.

I never expected Apple to update the trackpad for us people who dare to own a one-year old base-model Apple product. But that is what the document says! Anyone got it working, or is it just a mistake?

Finally! Now, the next thing apple should implement are those elastic edges so the screen bounces back when you reached the end of a page. Just like on the ipad/iphone.

why dont apple make it so that you can tap and drag to highlight text. So much easier then click and drag. Its annoying because i prefer navigation over three finger drag gesture.

Works flawlessly on my unibody MacBook. I love it! No more annoying scrolling through long webpages.

I tried System Update several times and got nothing for my mid-2009 MacBook Pro 13".

Then I found this on the Apple site:

http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1066

Looks like we can download it directly.

Edit: Looks like it requires Snow Leopard. Guess I'll have to upgrade to that first.

This is also the reason why my update doesn't show it. Okay time to put the snow Leopard disk in. I have been so happy with Leopard that I forgot it wasn't the latest operating system around. I didn't want to install it at first out of fear things would break. I guess it should have had plenty of time to work out the bugs and apps to be updated.

Silly me.

Interesting that they are supporting units from more than two years back!

Talk about enhanced functionality when one is looking for a new machine to buy!

I need to look for my macbook pro hiding somewhere under the bed and update it to check. Blame it on the iPad that the notebook wend hiding.

Edit: This update has screwed my smart scroll settings. Can someone remind me how to uninstall this update?

I had the same problem: after installing the update, my SmartScroll started acting weird - specially while coasting, it wouldn't stop with one tap as usual...

I fixed it by downloading SmartScroll again and reinstalling it - after restarting, this seems to overwrite / override the update drivers and bring SmartScroll back to normal.

Hope this helps,

I have a early 2009 macbook (MacBook5,2) on Snow Leopard 10.6.4. Downloaded and installed the update. No inertial scrolling. No change in trackpad preferences pane. :-(

Loving the inertial scrolling update, but don't think I'll ever use 3 finger dragging. I use 3 finger navigate far too much.

Agreed, inertia will take a bit of getting used to though, with small scrolls i seem to be overshooting a little.

Thought it might fix my drag lock problem too but no luck, it stays locked most of the time even when the option isnt ticked.

same here. i guess the update it's not meant to support the MB early and min 2009. but why those MB's were mentioned in the official magic trackpad update page???

I just re-read the support document and noticed it say "Magic Trackpad and Multi-Touch Trackpad Update 1.0 will appear in Software Update only after you install the the Mac OS X v10.6.4 update and after you pair your Magic Trackpad. Oh well.......

I think that is hardware. Not software.

I am pretty sure its not. You can look around at similar windows notebooks which used the 9400m and had hdmi ports with audio and video.

Its too bad the new cinema display does not have speakers cause then apple would have needed to do a software update to fix the no audio over mini displayport too.

I'm curious as to how many people prefer to "Tap" to click their trackpad, or physically click it...

Personally, I'm a clicker, and have tap-to-click always disabled.
I always click the trackpad. Tap to click is too inconsistent and sensitive for me.

Does anybody know yet if trackpad will reach the whole screen in one move with the pointer ?

Update has disabled Logitech MX Mouse actions

It seems the update has modified the actions for my Logitech MX Performance mouse. Specifically, it has disabled vertical scrolling with the wheel. In the Logitech menu in Settings, the "Vertical Scrolling" option is also grayed out and I can't reset or recover it.

This happened after I installed the update and presuming it's related :/ Any suggestions?

Like the 24" display, the new 27" display does indeed have integrated audio. From the Apple site...

"The LED Cinema Display gives you more than video — it gives you audio, too. The built-in 49-watt speaker system includes an integrated subwoofer that delivers immersive, full-range sound for music, movies, and games."

I don't know if anybody noticed this: When set to moving the window, the three-finger gesture also works as select and drag. Now that's what I call a bug which isn't one but actually is a feature! Plus: It has inertia. Really useful for coding.

Edit: Just realized that this is the actual feature. I thought it was just for window dragging. Duh.
