That isn't a huge deal, it just means SoftwareUpdate has not, or thinks it has not updated iPhoto.

I don't really want to guide you too deep into the system.

Check /Library/Updates for product ID 061-7748.

There's only one file under that folder.. I text file thing.. plist..

In the Applications folder, is iPhoto in the root of the folder? Garageband? Etc?

Meaning, when you open /Applications and scroll through the items, do you see iPhoto?

No, I cleaned up and made folders for my files because I thought it was to cluttered the way Mac OS X places the programs. So my computer looks like this:

Apps-> 3 folders
Dock
Help-programs
Programs

Dock is for the programs I want in stacks - I only have shortcuts here
Help programs and programs are all the programs that followed with the computer, including iPhoto and Garageband.. I divided them into these to folders based on their function.

There is your problem. iPhoto, etc have to be in the root of the Applications folder.

Software Update only knows to look in /Applications. If you want updates to come through Software Update you have to put the iLife Apps (and any other Apple apps) back in their original locations.

Really, that's the problem? Oh well, I guess that's good news.

A little dissapointed that Apple made it this way though. I like to organize my things, and this pretty much prohibits that. :(

Thread Starter: I read this and it sure looks like it's worth trying...

Too bad it is incorrect for 10.6, at least in terms of the receipts location.

The cases where those would apply are not applicable here.

There are no updates records for iPhoto, etc. Meaning there are no update receipts.

There are no automatically downloaded (or downloaded) updates in the Updates folder.

The software update plists contain very little data than would hinder the ability to see updates. A CatalogURL pointing to a SUS would be the only instance where I would look at a SoftwareUpdate plist.

There really is no need to organize those items. But you have to consider that Apple can't easily keep track of where every user wants to place their applications.

It looks like it worked. Thank you :D

Well, I don't like that all the programs is in one long list. I like to have them organized in folders. Like all videoprograms in one place, all editing in another an so forth. Easier to keep track :D

All the programs that are in the Helping programs folder, do I have to move them also? It's not a folder I created, it was there when I bought the computer. It looks like an "official" folder, it has some kind of ingraving on it, like some of the other official folders..

That is the "Utilities" folder and it is an official folder.
