You can not transfer the apple care from one machine to another. However, the new owner will enjoy the benefit of your buying it when you purchased your machine. It will also be good to sell it advertising the remaining time of apple care on the machine.

Good luck selling it. I just got the 13" mac pro and will be selling my air with SSD on ebay. May even consider craigslist, but haven't tried that yet.

Thanks for that. I just spoke to an apple rep on the chat (I'm in the UK) and apparently all new Macbooks purchased with the higher education discount come with a 3 year limited parts and labour warranty that is the same as the apple care. Is anybody else aware of this and do you think this will be the same as the apple care itself? If so, I'm happy to sell my current macbook with the applecare and just buy a new one and save on the cost?!

I think you just don't get the three years of phone support, but besides that it's the same as AppleCare.

Just out of interest, what condition did you sell your computer in? I bought my 2.4ghz in Feb and the laptop itself is immaculate, but the charger is slightly scratched as I use the LED screen for power and the supplied charger for when i'm on the move etc.

Just wondering how much you think the scratched charger will affect things.

Also a further question, I originally purchased Apple Care with the computer and it was auto-enrolled, does this mean I cannot transfer it to the new computer if I choose to go this route?

I bought mine in December and it was still in pristine condition when I sold it. As soon as the payment cleared, I went and bought my new one and used all of the plastic casing and covers and rewrapped my old MacBook before shipment. A bit of an overkill, but I just wanted the guy to be especially happy with his purchase. :)

That being said, I highly doubt your scratched charger will be much of an issue. Obviously I would recommend stating that in your description of the item if you choose to sell it and post pictures.
