To swap phones after 2 days is a bit silly really.

Why is it silly?

I liked iPhones and knew the experience. I wanted to experience what this open OS that android has was like. It's a good system, I never said it wasn't. But for ME it wasn't what I really wanted. I needed to try android to realize what I liked better.

Lets just say Apple got me so far into the Apple Ecosystem that I find it hard to enjoy anything else.

Because 2 days is not long enough to form a decent opinion on an OS i don't think.

I get what you are saying. I used iOS 7 beta 3 for the 1st day and hated it. But after a couple days it grew on me. Android may have grown on me too.

When I was younger I hated Apple. The way everything is simple and locked down. As an adult I grew to like that in an OS.

I may give android another try. If I do it will be on a tablet. I believe android on a tablet is probably heaven!

People usually say the opposite about the Android on Tablets partially because there are alot less tablet tailored apps. Anyway glad you could see my point of view. :)

----------

Why you must hate, there are different people with different likings...

There is nothing wrong with people liking whatever, some take it too far and are blinkered.

iPhone 4s battery was pretty bad and I was up for an upgrade. So I used the awesome Galaxy S4 for two days. It was a good phone. Lots of features, no lag, nice display. Open to customize and freely roam the Internet with endless possibilities.

BUT, the features are wasted to me. The features I know and love only come on the iPhone. Simplicity, reliability, syncalibility, is that even a word, beauty, and "it just works".

So I couldn't hold out for the iPhone 5s. I am proudly typing this on my "soon to be old iPhone". The iPhone 5, and I freaking love it!

Cool story bro!

It is silly, although I deal with people that can't make up their minds for **** all day long though so kinda used to it now.

I wouldnt move to samsung because it has so many 'bloat' features.
I'm pretty big on design too so the nicely crafted UI on iOS (both new and old) and the nicely crafted hardware wins my heart.
I am however somewhat wishing for a larger screen phone. and for more powerful features.
mainly a curiosity thing - i dont need them... so I was seriously considering getting a nexus phone...or a google edition htc one.

these three things tie me back:

1. imessage: ALL my friends use iPhone and iMessage. The amount of time and effort we have saved because were able to have group conversations is surprisingly incredible.
2. itunes: yes i can use double twist.....however, it is also 2013. I buy 100% of my songs through my phone. Nothing beats iTunes (especially with the indie scene that I love).
3. the fact that it does what it does well. If I really look at it..the only 'smart' features I use are: internet browsing..emails...buying movie tickets...maps... take photos and access social media.
All the other features are fluff to me... well the iphone does all of the above QUICKLY and well... what benefit would an android have?? what can an android or a samsung do that my iPhone cant? and if there are things my iphone cant do, are they more valuable than iTunes and iMessage? So far, my answer is no.

Based on the 2 phones you mentioned, and your limited usage.

1. Bigger screen better for browsing, looking at maps.
2. Alot more camera settings which you may or not use.

But they probably don't out weight the positives you find in the iPhone.

Number 1 is the only feature I envy.
Number 2...I don't know, alot of the photo apps have those additional features. And even then, as you said, outside of exposure and focus controls, which are both available on the iPhone, I dont know if I'd use those settings. Plus, most of the photo apps I use are iOS exclusive.. (VSCOcam, for example)

Out of curiosity, how different is your usage? Am I using my phone differently that I don't find the benefits of Android to outweigh the iPhone?

[MOD NOTE]
I went and changed the title to be more descriptive of the thread, as we prefer not having sensationalistic titles that mislead the membership.

Sorry off topic, but I think that is the best mod note of all time. Not sure why, the wording just sounds amazing to me. :D

Anyway, back on topic. OP, enjoy the 5. Use what works for you. I'm waiting it out with my 4S to get the 5S, but I'm sure you'll like the 5 for years to come. Plus, there's something always new out there, it's just a question of how long you want to wait.

You could Google Music in combination with iTunes as well.

And answering your question.
1. I like flashing custom ROM's to add new features/ tweak exiting ones too be better.
2. I find widgets useful.
3. I love Google Music and the fact it's free.
4. I like i can Root and remove any apps i don't want on the phone.
5. Can't stand the iOS keyboard.
6. Can change the default apps for things.
7. Alot easyier to share information between apps.
8. No reliance on a piece of software like iTunes.
9. I like how i can make my phone how i want it to look like instead of what Apple wants it too look like.
10. Don't like how in iOS if there is a bug in say the mail app for example a updated version can't be pushed to the phone via the app store like in Android i would have to wait until the next incremental iOS update. To me that seems very backwards.
11. Can dump any old video file on my Android device and it will play with a 3rd party player, with an iOS device i'd have to re-encode the video unless the file happened to a in a format that Apple likes, which is time consuming and tedious.

Thats the plus's for me off the top of my head according to my usage.

Thanks once again for reassuring that I would never go Android. Can't stand Samsung, they pay absolutely 0 attention to the overall design and durability of their Galaxies, quality is absolute rubbish plastic compared to a more mature built iPhone. Jelly Bean is full of clutter and unnecessarily painful to use.

I've been running iOS 7 for a month now and it's a nice change from any other previous version and can't wait for the public release when all the kinks are ironed out.

:D:cool:

I use both a 4s and a GS4 as well as a one X at times and I can attest to the 4s losing some of its luster over time. I actually prefer android on my smartphones because of the open platform and the ability to customize any and everything but I still hold on to my 4s because the app selection is 2nd to none in my opinion of course

For example I like setting up my homescreen to have that simple/minimal elegant look -

Though when it comes to apps there's always subtle differences in ios apps that set it apart from android. it's like developers leave out that one extra feature you wish was on the android version, for instance, tapatalk for iOS has the pull down and pull up feature unlike android that just has a refresh button in the menus, the chase app you can deposit checks but not in the android version.

Although when it comes to a media consumption device the GS4 is excellent.

I don't think you want to be throwing stones when it comes to durability... but i do agree on the design viewpoint when it comes to Samsung they should take a leaf out of HTC and Nokia's handbook. And you obvilously hav'nt tried pure Android if you think it's cluttered and i don't really get how is painful to use, but hey.

Fair enough. your usage is a lot different to mine.
- I don't want to spend lots of time tinkering with ROMs. My days of doing that are over - did that with Pocket PCs and Windows Mobile a decade ago.
- I do wish iOS lets me to choose default apps to things. No big deal to me though. I use Safari and Mail. The only alternative app I use is Google Maps.
- But isn't Android slower than iOS in terms of software updates?
- True on the reliance on iTunes. I wish it had drag and drop. but no big deal, yet. I don't find myself limited by it. on the iPad, different story. This is a killer feature missing on iOS on iPad.
- Google Music isnt available in Canada. ha.
- I don't download any video anymore... I stream.

I guess I've answered my question. iPhone is the way to go for me for now.

Thanks.

The Nexus devices get updates to the OS itself within days of it being released but as you said manufacturers take months longer with there Android phones. But it makes less of a difference on Android then it would on iOS because Google Apps get updated independently of the OS (Gmail, Google Maps etc) and pushed though the app store. On iOS that can't happen and you would have to wait until a incremental update to iOS itself which might take months.

Cool story bro. Thanks for wing people's time. Jeez the quality of posts on here. Is this forum for kids?
