Solution: Restore iPhone 3GS 4.2.1 with 6.15 iPad Baseband

You either don't have shsh blobs saved for the version you're trying to install or your hosts don't redirect to cydias server.
 
After I did the first thing with Red Sn0w the iTunes doesn't recognize my phone... What to do?

EDIT - Now it recognized, but when I tried to restore it says "The iPhone "iPhone" could not be restored. An unknown error occurred (1602).

I did not saved any blobs, please help, I used this for 1 day and it's already bricked... Help me

please help i got the error 3194 when i restore with custom FW.my ip 3gs verision 4.2.1 but i cant jailbreak with redsn0w i dont know why after DFU it show waiting for 3GS and then it stuck at there :(
 
i have iphone 3g and followed this guide. for some reason the iphone has ultrasn0w installed by cydia but it keeps saying No Service. For some reason the unlock will not work. Should i try to find a way to downgrade from the 06.15.00 baseband? please help, im so close to finally having it working again!
 
when restoring with the custom ipsw from megaupload, I get the following error message: "the iphone could not be restored. this device isn't eligible for the requested build". Any clue on what to do next?

Ok so heres my problem i just got an iPhone 3gs from my friend yesterday and it had ios 4.2.1 stock installed . The version is week 33 so its running the old bootrom anyways because it was my friends i have no backups on my iTunes and i decided to use redsnow to jailbreak it and update to the ipad baseband to unlock it for t mobile at first it worked then it froze and turned itself off when i tried using cydia after that it wouldn't turn on at all if i tried booting teathered or not so i tried re jail breaking it just in-case i was wrong i tried doing it as the new bootrom for the 3gs and the old one a few times but no matter what i cant get it to start up at all . Eventually i tried just doing a full restore threw iTunes to 4.3.3 but after it got to the end of the restore i got an error message and now the only thing that comes on when i turn it on it the plug into iTunes logo .ive tried restoring it to a custom 4.2.1 firmware with iTunes 10.1.1.4 but it wont get past the verifying with apple part and continues to give me the 3194 error. Im not sure if after the restore its stuck somehow either without any firmware or has corrupted firmware from all the jailbreaks and restores i tried or if its stuck on 4.3.3 or 4.2.1 . i Tried the fix at the beginning of this post and everything went fine until i tried the restore with iTunes and again got the 3194 error message. i cant use tiny umbrella because i don't have any backups or saved files because as i said its not my iPhone somebody please help i really don't want this thing to become an expensive paperweight.
 
custom ispw corrupted?

so those instructions seemed good & it worked ... for a day

i have a suspicion that the custom ispw linked here is corrupted, here's why:

- i have 2 iPhones 3GS
- did the bb 6.15 & custom 4.2.1 on one & left 5.12 & custom ispw on the other
- jailbreaked both & ulocked one successfully
- here's the weird. one with bb 5.12 booted to a screen with fewer colors & the screen shifted to the right (as in icons moved over to the right & wrapped around from the left by one row)
- then ... all of the sudden white screen of death on ... both phones

i've tried the iRecovery trick - no luck so far. so i'm waiting for the battery to drain on both phones now :(

Create your own custom 4.3.3 IPSW and put both phones in pwned DFU mode and restore to the firmware with iTunes.
 
I had a
iphone 3gs + 6.15 BB + 4.2.1 ios

i was trying to upgrade to 4.3.3 through itunes, it failed immidiately

when i select the apple 4.2.1 firmware to upload through itunes restore, it gives me error 3194. i checked that error code - it said i should update itunes & reboot. did that and im still getting that error...

You need to create a custom firmware, stock firmware won't work because you're on 6.15.00.

well, i've been stubborn w/ trying to get 4.2.1 to work, but you're right - nothing but problems. (again, don't think it's hardware 'cause both phones experience, exactly same problems):
- restore to custom ipsw goes ok (via pwnd dfu, tiny & iTunes)
- boots (only via redsn0w "boot tethered": 've tried recboot, fixrecover421 & greenp0ison over past 2 week ... nothing untethers :( )
- then it turns off by itself when left alone for 5 min (after i charge to 10% & unplug)
- then brief white screen & comes up (via boot tethered again)
but to this strange colors, shifted to the right screen
- if i power down after that, nothing works (boot tethered, etc)
it gets stuck on white screen
- error 28 on restore attempt (then drain batt & start over again)

ps: i was lucky with the 32 bb 5.16 - it had shsh saved on cydia & was able to downgrade to 4.1, but no unlock so far (i'm contemplating to bb 6.15)

ps: about to try 4.3.1 on the 16 bb 6.15

Basically you'll need
redsn0w 0.9.6b6 (version I used)
Apple iPhone 4.2.1 firmware http://appldnld.apple.com/iPhone4/061-9895.20101122.Cdew2/iPhone2,1_4.2.1_8C148a_Restore.ipsw
and a custom restore image http://www.megaupload.com/?d=6JVZF92E

( Reason for this separate post was for awareness and translation to the English language a tad more clear)

Use redsn0w and click Browse ( find the firmware image you downloaded from Apple) Select Yes ( at least I had to)

In redsn0w select Next

In that screen check the box that says "Just enter pwned phone in DFU mode"

Phone will now have a black screen, do not worry it's in DFU mode if you followed the steps correctly.

Open iTunes, hold the option key (Mac) and select the custom recovery image we downloaded through Megaupload

Your phone should now be restored to 4.2.1 and should boot up to something besides the iTunes logo.

Use redsn0w again select Apples firmware, this time ONLY select the option to install Cydia.

Follow the steps, it will take a while for it to completely boot up.

If you get a white icon for Cydia like I did, use redsn0w, browse for the ipsw from Apple, this time select "Just boot tethered right now"

Hopefully this helps some of you.
