This works for me. I couldn’t find the app in the list in the LG content store. I had to search it by name. I have an OLED65B8PUA, so it works on a 2018 TV.

also I notice that the aspect ratio seemed off while watching Servant. We got Dolby Vision and Atmos, but the picture was full screen despite aspect ratio being set to Original. The UI on the app very closely follows the AppleTV app.

Thanks to people confirming how they got the app (either way).

I’ve tweeted LG to ask when UK models will get the update but I’m not wildly optimistic that I’ll get a reply. Just have to be patient, I guess!

I have a 3rd gen Apple TV, so can’t get 4k or HDR content - that’s the main reason I’m excited. I’ve barely used my Apple TV since getting my 4k TV last year, but it does mean that my iTunes film library has been somewhat neglected. Can’t wait to see the Into the Spiderverse in a shinier form.

Keep us updated. Which UK model do you have?

I have been waiting for this ever since I signed up for Apple TV+

I saw this yesterday and jumped up went to my LG 2018 C8 TV and installed it. Took a bit of doing, updated the firmware and then installing the app, getting a few warnings and restarting my TV, but all done and working. HOORAY!

I am so excited that I no longer have to drag my iPad Pro up to the TV and hook it up to the TV to watch Apple TV+ stuff on the big screen.....Thank you LG for fulfilling your promise!

It appeared on my 2018 Nanocell LG last night in Ireland. Was on the launcher and didn't have to look for it in the store but it did require a 55mb update. The 4K Dolby Vision picture quality is amazing, miles better than the 4K of Amazon Prime and Netflix. Just shows how much these other providers compress 4K so much that it's basically just 1080p. Glad I get this service free with my 5 euro Apple Music student subscription, wasn't able to use it until today as I didn't want to watch movies on a macbook.

Does anybody know who decides what TVs get an app and what TVs don't? There's no reason why my 2017 C7 can't run AppleTV+ as it happily supports similar content through other apps (such as Netflix Dolby Vision and Disney+).

Who should I moan at? Apple or LG? 😡

C8 in Germany, first a major update of the LG WebOS is required (takes some time), the the app can be installed...

E8 in Canada updated. It took a while though. Clicking the update button on the AppleTV app did not do anything. I checked for a webOS update but that came back with no updates available. Updated some other apps like YouTube, Netflix. About 30 min later I saw an update available message for webOS. Updated webOS 5.20.02 and rebooted the TV and then the AppleTV update completed. Fired up the app and bingo.

Interesting it was also added to the devices menu

Just read that LG have stated that AirPlay2 and HomeKit support are now no longer coming to 2018 sets, so that’s great.

C8 here, app was available some days ago on my set.

I see, thx.
Although I have “Manufactured in Feb 2018” on sticker and bought it in July 2018 the TV Model is 2017 :( ...my bad.
The Clue was in the Model Name B7

:p

There been no news that I’ve seen of LG considering releasing anything for 2017 sets, I might be wrong but the only news I’ve seen they only mentioned 2018 models.
