Yep, data and information. Arguably the most important things you can get when you want something to not be a flop.

Most will bloviate on MR that they hate it or it's somehow inferior. It may or may not be. But 80% will dis it bigly.

At this point, Siri and Alexa get 85% of the job done for me. I'm happy to wait.

Did you mean "Release WHEN you have it"? If so, I'm okay with that.

How do we know that? It just says they "have concerns". My manager says the same thing, but until I have a deeper two-way conversation, I have no idea what her "concerns" might be. They could be about me, they could be about one of my employees, they could be about an implementation plan we have, they could be about our strategy for holiday coverage, or they could be about something I haven't even heard about yet.

We need to hold our horses and just wait for more information. Always assuming the worst is just adding artificial and unnecessary stress.

This is possible, entirely possible.

This is also possible.

I disabled Copilot. Windows 11 is fine and I use it on two different computers.

Yours is the most reasonable analysis I've ever seen on this entire subject.

Do we have an AI bubble? I don't know. I will say that I see a lot of "bubble behavior" all around all things AI. One of those things is the appearance of many companies that tout their AI prowess, but have no evidence of being able to attribute actual EARNINGS to the use/sale of AI products or services.

Additionally, the term "Artificial Intelligence" is not really all that clearly defined.

For one person, Siri being able to give movie times and locations is AI. For another person, you have to be able to carry on a 2-way conversation. For me, the AI assistant must be able to interpret context, and be able to carry on compound conversations with multiple subjects, all without misunderstanding me. Also for me, the assistant must not overrely on Large Language Model results.

The true test for me would be, "Can this AI carry on a conversation with my mother (if she were still alive)? She didn't think procedurally like I do. It's because I was contaminated by years of writing code and being in IT. I could have breakfast with her, and God bless her soul, 45 minutes later, she has updated me on every member of both sides of the family, her friend in the hospital, my cousin with this medical condition, and somebody else's kid who's in advanced classes in school. My mother would refer to my dad as "daddy", and that's been ever since I was a kid! An AI would get confused just conversing with my mom, thinking that there are twelve other people party to the conversation, but how can that be when her father passed in the 1970s and I haven't seen some of my cousins for more than 20 or 30 years?

I can track all that, even if I did occasionally have to ask mom to clarify some pronoun she used, only to learn that there was a new person she was talking about.

Tony Stark's Jarvis or Friday could track all of that. But they're still fictional and there's no commercially available AI assistant with the ability to do anything close to that. That's my benchmark. We still have such a long way to go, and that's just to come to agreement on what AI even is.

But man oh man, this sure is an exciting time to be alive. For sure!
Oh jeez it’s not about iron man if you want to break it down like this Siri is not very good in terms of this timeline it’s been on the iPhone since the 4S but it was on the App Store before that in that time it’s not improved to how it should be based on that timeline whereas competitors have now this can’t be about money for investment from apple and it’s the exact same as AI now what’s very telling about this in terms of apple is this in iOS 18 it was Apple Intelligence and then it got released and it’s not that great compared with competitors efforts so rather than push to make it better and catch up they should be doing as a company they have reverted back to type and done Liquid Glass by changing the look of the OS across the board plus changing the name to distract from AI and in doing that they have managed to convince their customers that AI is not really important and for a technology company that is wrong and
Siri perfectly explains that from the minute it when on the iPhone 4s to now why it’s not improved that much.

I am sort of understanding of delays on this project, because all AI is basically in beta. No company has released a product that is not total trash right now. Much less Apple, always famously "late to the game".

That said, Siri actually worked better when they introduced it in 2011 than it does now. So even if they can't get AI working, they shouldn't be shipping this dodgy product.

Apple just need to follow Samsung. Get chat CPT, Gemini all on there baked in and then add all of the cool things the S24 can do. They dont need their own AI model, people will buy iPhones regardless of what AI is on there. Apple Intelligence is a joke at this point and old Timmy aint helping the situation.

I’ve not used regular Siri for years until I got my AirPods and I was shocked how it had it is.

It was very hit and miss with the basics like call Glenn etc.. so I’ve not got high hopes for this

Oh boy..

Last time there were "concerns" leaking out, Apple* pushed out the Vision Pro flop.

*well, in reality, Tim Cook personally forced it out hoping for his own iPhone moment
I was impressed by the announcement 2 years ago but skeptical about "designed for all-day use when plugged in ..." (June 5, 2023 Apple press release). Later that month, I read the article below. With it in mind, I did the Apple Store demo eventually. That experience convinced me that the article had a point. It may be a blessing in disguise that Apple charges $3.5k for it. I can see why people are fascinated by it, yes, but I was not.

I never got used to the idea to talk to my phone, so I don't think this will change. On the other hand, it is doubtful that phone which don't support "Apple Inteligence" will get the "new" Siri. I wonder if the hallucination issue with LLMs will be even worse, when the machine is talking to you. But we'll see, maybe the bubble burst before that anyway.

if youre talking about out Tesla, no you wont.

if youre talking about Waymo, its (literally) already here, I see it every day.
I see Waymo a lot also. Like in the news where 50 Waymo taxis got hacked and all of them piled into one street in San Francisco. Or drive someone in a circle. Or hit someone. Or a bunch of them all went around honking horns in the middle of the night.

Have you looked at the excellence that is iOS 26 yet?

I got a dark mode Passwords app icon for a light mode setup. Not sure what kind of rock you've been living under, but what Apple has been doing the past few years has been neither consistent nor excellent. Or even close to that.
I didn't say they produced excellent and consistent software. I said they aimed for it.

What will happen? Everyone knows ….

„For example, Apple showed an iPhone user asking Siri about their mother's flight and lunch reservation plans, based on info from the Mail and Messages apps.“

Siri: „I have to tell you that your mother died“

We seen this already with notification summary 🤣🤣🤣

They should really put effort into doing it right, and above all, doing it the "Apple" way (something that solves a problem and improves your life in an elegant way). Because if users hate it, it'll be the beginning of the end.

Apple won't release this so close to ending iOS 26 when os 27 is around the corner, and they need to sell that and save some features to drip feed to us.

Leave the Intelligence, Ios26 doesn't work still. It is a buggy OS, my iPad Pro makes me crazy. They added a top useless menu, when i try to touch (using magic keyboard touchpad) some button, it is impossible, the ****** menu opens up!

And crazy liquid glass design, they completely messed up the systems visibility and some cases i don't see the text it is being glass an example on Safari bookmarks bar texts!

Who wanted glass design on menus? Who is that much crazy at Apple, fire him today!

yeah makes the most sense and then if they are to work on their own models release it when it is ready.

gemini is so good to use for any task

There was a time when Apple represented everything I loved about technology, bold, elegant, transformative. I looked up to them.

Now I find myself embarrassed by the company they’ve become, watching from a distance as they stumble through decisions that would have been unthinkable in their prime.
