I think that this is clearly an unintentional consequence of the latest update. Why would Apple want a slightly green background on these affected areas as it takes more power to light the pixels than leaving them completely off as they were before. While this would have a negligible impact on battery life, it is nonetheless a negative impact.

Series 5 Apple Watch no issues for me on 9.5 but seeing the posts I might hold of a while on the next update.

Left: Watch Ultra on watchOS 9.5
Right: Series 6 on watchOS 9.1

Also note the burn-in from the Wayfinder face. Both watches had the World Time face selected under the Notification Center.

Did you bother reading the comments and discover that people are affected on their S8 and even the Ultra?
But yea, “planned obsolescence” …
I certainly do. I read everything. By impacting all models Apple thinks they are less likely to be accused of what they have clearly done in the past.

Burn-in ? Already? My sister is still rocking her Series 5 with "Always on" and she still doesn't have any which I find amazing to be honest.

I agree that the tint is likely an intentional blur effect, but the burn-in from the Wayfinder face is still there when the Pride face is selected.
Huh, right you are.

How long have you had that AW? It’s an Ultra right? Has to be with that face.

I have an ultra on Wayfinder too. Don’t seem to have burn in.

May be it depends of the brightness level. If you rock it all the way, it's more easy to get damaged.

I've had it since the day after it launched (24th September) and have been using it with the Wayfinder face and AOD daily until this week when I swapped it for the World Clock face after noticing the burn-in. I use it on the lowest brightness setting too, maybe I just got unlucky because OLEDs seem to be a bit of a lottery when it comes to burn-in and I don't think my device is representative of the vast majority of Apple Watch Ultra screens.

Yeah you could be right. Either way, not a biggie. These things are used and enjoyed and then replaced eventually, so don’t sweat it.

I have two Apple Watch 4 Stainless Steel models. Both running watchOS 9.5 with the same background. One has the green tint and the other doesn't. Ultra also doesn't have green tint...

I'm seeing some weird color banding on the app switcher in iOS 16.5. I can't recall seeing this before and checked against a white background to make sure it was not the display (if it were it wouldn't appear in the screenshot either).
This isn’t new. I’m not sure when it was added, exactly, but it’s not new.

I thought this was deliberate on my AW5 passcode screen. But checking the notification screen mine flickers green to black.

Pretty sure that wouldn’t be deliberate.

Looks like it's the background of the slideovers now being more dark-gray translucent with blur than black translucent with blur like before.
My thoughts exactly. When I first saw it I went “Oh, they’re trying to make it easier to tell that Notification Center/Control Center are sheets on top of the UI”

I never thought I would be *that* guy but.. feels like the latest update has tanked my battery. Might be a crazy coincidence. It’s 3 o clock in the afternoon, I’ve not done any specific activity on it and it’s already at 19%.
Reboot it and the problem will likely go away. It has always worked for me.
