My service has also been bad over the past six months. I rarely have more than two bars. And if I do, it's only three. I'm seriously considering switching to Verizon because their plans are now equal in price to AT&T. They've really gone down hill in my opinion.

I'm starting to think its not AT&T. It's an iPhone hardware issue. I've talked to coworkers who have other brands on AT&T and standing next to each other they get full bars.

I'm going to report this finding to Apple.com/feedback and see what they say about it.

I feel like a unicorn. I've never had any issues with AT&T. In fact they have always been responsive to issues when I talk to them. While I get three bars outside my house, there are areas inside that are very weak. I called a month ago and two days later I had a free microcell in my hands. Obviously YMMV.

Well check this out. I bumped into a network engineer at a local fast food joint. He was working with some techs on a cell tower nearby. He brought out his diagnostics tool to test the AT&T network and it came up fine. All the techs there had full service except me. He said its most likely the way Apple handles their firmware for 4G/LTE. I'm not the only one with this issue. I reported it to Apple so hopefully they can look into it.

That's fine if WiFi is available. But if i'm on the road, its not very helpful.

Agreed. You said AT&T wanted you to buy their "home device". I assume you meant the microcell. I was just saying that they'll probably start trying to phase the microcells out for people who have newer iPhones that can take advantage of Wi-Fi calling.
 
This happened to me. I called in and they fixed it right away! Apple even called me the next day to follow up if I had any more questions, and apologizing for the glitch. Customer service goes a long way.

Really? mine hasnt even been fixed yet. It has been handed over to a apple support supervisor since Saturday 9/12

Anybody else get theirs fixed today?

No changes here yet, contacted Apple again yesterday & the rep said she saw the request for adjustment made by the previous support rep on saturday. Said if i don't see a change today to call back because it usually takes 1-2 business days

Update from my case. No changes yet. But the supervisor overlooking my case emailed me just right now and said the back office team adjusting the pricing of the orders has confirmed that it will be fixed before it bills but there is no fixed timetable. You would think that would be soon because these phones should be shipping soon. They will reach out to me once it resolves.
 
Morning update: mine's still showing full price, haven't heard anything back from support since I contacted them on Saturday. Figuring now that I'll give it to Friday before getting in touch with them again.

Yeah mine is still showing full price this morning as well. Keep in mind if the price is still showing full price and the phone ships this Friday or whenever it ships the card is charged full price. They need to change it before it ships.

Yeah, believe me I'm getting worried but I trust them to fix it. Don't think there's any real possibility of charges going out anytime this week, usual pattern being early-to-mid week the week of launch, with a shipping date of Wednesday-ish. So still time.

I see what your saying. Hopefully that is the case for us. However just saw on the apple.com pre order thread and some customers orders are preparing for shipment now and the cards are being charged.
 
Update from Apple support: "Thank you for patiently waiting you are awesome! I did double check it seems it is on our end, I doubled checked using another system and yes you will only be charged taxes so in total we will only charge you 82.78 we are still trying to get to all the orders and just fix the price but you will certainly just be charged the taxes and not the full amount."

"Haha I know it is scary to see that, but I used a different system in which is definitely correct and it just shows the taxes. But we are aware of this issue and should be fixed very soon."

So, it seems even if your order shows full price, you should be good and only be charged upgrade fee + tax. Still, gonna wait patiently for my price to return to normal...

Just checked a few minutes ago and it finally appears to have been fixed. Phew! Scary to load up macrumors and see cards are being charged!
 
Update just logged in and checked my order status on Apple Store app on my iphone, and regular website apple.com and it shows corrected now 59.43. For those that are affected go log in and check.
