heres a few of mine that i was talking about earlier, all in Seattle, WA. the two 8mbps ones are in the capital hill neighborhood, which is just outside the downtown area, and the 9mbps one is right in the middle of downtown in the shopping district, where i work.

mb/s aren't mbps...= 9 mbps = 1 mb/s

Actually, those are the exact same thing. mbps = mb/s (megabits per second = megabits/seconds)

The difference is in capitalization (the B is what matters, but it's customary to match the case of the m with the case of the B):
mb = megabit
MB = megabyte
mbps = megabits per second
mb/s = megabits per second
MB/s= megabytes per second

with

byte = 8 bits

Major improvement glad I waited to upgrade

must be nice

In Atlanta, I get .55 dl, .76 ul on my at&t iPhone 4. Prior to the "upgrades" that at&t did in Atlanta this year, I was getting 1-3Mbps. It takes forever for something basic like my twitter feed to update while on 3g. It's pretty much useless for data if not on wi-fi.

What's interesting in my tests is how dependent on location performance is with GSM - AT&T

I ran the download test on one side of a building and got 0.48, then turned around the corner of the building (maybe 15 feet) and it went to 1.48.

GSM/WCDMA seems to be pretty sensitive to structures in the way compared to CDMA2000
