My 12 pro is starting to show its age, but Apple is making it very easy for me to hold out on upgrading for one more year.

Sounds like the QA department at Apple didn't run through all charging scenarios. You'd hope the automotive group within Apple that owned car integration would have somebody on this.

I also wonder if it has something to do with part shortages and quality control issues with hardware that was installed post pandemic. I know of many cases where cheaper parts were used to simply get these cars into the market after sitting unfinished in parking lots because of missing components.

It's very slow in the Acura as well, so slow and useless that I find it faster with the cable or charge at home with a cable.

Wireless charging in any vehicle has been notoriously bad. What’s the point? Just use a cable.
Exactly , buying the lasest iphone but driving a Chevy Traverse , those products do not line up. Fyi not a fan of american cars. Everyone knows if want a relidable car you buy a Toyota or a Honda.
I’m not following your logic here.

Maybe it’s unrelated, but I have the same problem with my iPhone SE 2022 and VW. Completely unreliable wireless charging, case or no case.

I'm sorry they moved to USB. I used lightning and wireless charging all at the same time. Sometimes my phone stays charged for weeks on end.

I never had an in-car charger that didn't make the phone boiling hot. And my current 2020 Ford Explorer, the iPhone Max models don't even fit in the slot.

That picture is from a FCA product. I recognize the USB ports. They look just like the ones in my 2020 Ram.

And Apple might go portless on iPhone 16?

Like with BMW, Apple's (temporary) solution will be to don't use in-car wireless charging.

In the meantime, Apple advises affected customers to stop using in-car wireless charging.
When the issue appears to be that a specific wireless charger is causing hardware damage, I don't see a feasible alternative to that advisory. Short of instantly issuing a software patch, what were you expecting Apple to say?

The huge camera tumors keeps the phone from contacting the Qi pad properly. Yet another reason I’m sticking with my SE as long as I can.

Yea probably, when I got my 13pro I couldn’t even use my wireless charger anymore because the cameras were getting in the way

It gets worse every year as the tumors get bigger and bigger. The SE has a camera bump but it's nothing like what we see on the latest phones - and for most people the increase in image quality is immaterial because everyone just looks at photos on Instagram.

I couldn’t agree more. Outside of trucks (and maybe budget for a used car), do people actually choose to buy GM vehicles?
I did. Since this is a unicorn in the US market at a very reasonable price comparing to the closest competitor and does not look like everything on the road.

my ford QI charging not charging all generations of iPhones. Only few seconds and stop.
this option alone cost 150$. ;))

I have a 2023 Chevrolet Tahoe LT. iOS 17.1 caused an issue where my iPhone Xs Max would only wireless charge for the first few seconds and then stop charging. After installing iOS 17.1.1 my wireless charging is now working correctly again. Apple's wireless charging issues are not just with the iPhone 15 as my iPhone is a Xs Max and with me it was a problem with 17.1 that was resolved for me after updating to 17.1.1.

I wonder if there is a system that causes the truck to shut that feature off if it detects it is drawing too much power. I know my F150 will do this to all sorts of things if it feels the battery is too low in the truck
Yep. My Ford Focus hatchback does this. A little pop up message on the Sync display lets me know it turned off the offending outlet/radio.

Wireless charging is a stupid gimmick. It's slow and inefficient. It wastes space inside the phone for inductors. And you have to put the phone on a pad anyway, which provides essentially zero advantage over just plopping it into a dock.

And we already know that audio over Bluetooth sucks ass. Just wait until Apple ditches all the ports, and the enshíttification of the iPhone is complete.
