I had a Galaxy Note II for a year, then upgraded to the Note 3 last year.
During those two years, that's exactly how I carry my phone around.
My jeans are not super-tight, but tight enough... in fact, if I run/jump,
my Galaxy Note 3 won't fall out. (just tested and my co-worked thought
I was having a breakdown) :) I sometimes sit down on the couch
without taking the Note 3 out first.... scared me sometimes, but it hasn't
had an issues.

I have never used iPhones(any generation), so I'm unfamiliar with how
it's constructed. However, my Galaxy Note II and Note 3 are 99% plastic.

Why am I worried? I have two Macbook Air laptops. I believe they
have the same aluminum construction as the iPhones. In fact, my older
2013 MBA's screen frame has a very noticeable "bend" right now. It's
near the top right hand corner, where I would usually grab when picking
up the MBA. This has caused it to be rejected by Gazelle when I tried
to trade it in two months ago. I also tried to sell it on eBay but got
no good bids because of this bending issue. I ended up keeping the
2013 MBA. However, it does not affect the operations of the screen
at all. It just looks ugly. :( Is this a unique problem to the MBA?

What did you expect will happen putting a thin phone in tight jeans , in your back pocket with a wallet.

You should have had it in special case and use a Bluetooth headset!! I don't know why you would even touch the phone!! It has a big screen for a reason!!

I wear looser pants to stay comfortable and cool, it's my style not skinny jeans. My phone rides in my front pocket, it has plenty of room to jostle around in. Just getting in and out of the car or sitting down at my desk has put enough pressure on my phone to warp it. It's not bent or jacked up it has a visible curve to it when you look down the edge like a pice of lumber.

I hope the bending issue is real and will cost them lots of money. They need a wake up call - a kick in the groin. The iPhone 6 and the whole direction Apple is going with the overly thin design is absurd. As the fanboys who are defending Apple at all cost. I can't believe the ridiculous statements here, that people are not suppose to put their phone in their pockets. Come on, really?

Today I checked out my colleagues iPhone 6 and compared it to my current phone (LG G2). They are very much the same size, apart from the thickness. Difference is, that my 2013 device sports a 5.2" screen, a 1080p display, Camera with OIS, 2 GB of RAM and a 3000 mAH battery which last a very long time.

Don't get me wrong. I am not a Fandroid. I wanted to go back to Apple and iOS after got burned with Samsung. But I feel, that :apple: produced a device, which lacks any innovation. In fact, I would argue Johny Ive tried to hide the lack of innovation in the design by making it just thinner. For the sake of battery life and now, as it seems, overall strength and integrity of the device.

The tired design with huge symmetrical bezels, which are there for the sake of symmetry and don't even house some front facing stereo speakers, etc. For what it is, it is way too overpriced, too.

The release of iOS 8.0 and the rushed update of V 8.0.1 sums up the current state of :apple:.

I am sad, because I still like :apple: very much and hope they will turn this ship around: offering great and professional products. Not only thin ones. And I mean Computers, too. And in fact, throw in Software, too.

Don’t put them in your pocket. Problem solved!

:D

but it already has a bent corner from picking it up daily.... imagine picking it up with just one hand, the palm is under the MBA and the thumb is on top, holding the top right corner.... :(

I guess this is a cosmetic issue that is not covered by Apple warranty? :(

Look at these forums. While these forums and the members posting only represent a small percent of actual iPhone owners, many people want thin, big, best battery, etc. I too would take a little more girth for better battery and rigidness.

Hmm, not sure about that. I’m sure people admire and marvel about how thin the phone is but I’m not sure it’s actually on the want list when dreaming about the new iPhone.

----------

People want thinner and lighter (myself included). When I held the iPhone 6 Plus for the first time, I was like wow I can't believe how thin and light this is. It's an incredible experience to hold the device for the first time. Apple is focused on the things consumers appreciate.

Seriously. Holding a new phone is an incredible experience?

I’m serious. I need an answer to that.

If it was in their front pocket and they didn't sit on it, then it's another issue as a phone should NOT bend under those circumstances, the bear minimum a phone would take is being put into a front pocket and the person sitting down! But Apple is obsessed with thinness....

Instead of making the phone thick enough so the camera doesn't protrude and the battery is slightly bigger and the phone doesn't bend.. all the the sake of 0.77mm.

I agree, you should be able to carry it in your front pocket and sit without bending it.

I changed my air filter at 17,000 miles and I have 31,000 miles now. I took mileage manually and got 15.2 mpg, 251 miles per tank. Car drives great, what's up ?

Canceled my 6+ 128. No one asked for a thinner phone or a protruding camera lens, I fail to understand how this design made it through the approval process. If people are reporting it bending in just a few weeks of normal use, this is going to be a huge problem.

The thinner Apple makes their devices, the more important it is to put them in a case, so that you don't have to worry about every single thing.

Doesn't that defeat the point of having a thinner phone if you have to put it in a thick case? I guess thinner isn't always better. Maybe they should go back to making thicker phones. They could fit a lot more junk in them that way as well. More storage, bigger batteries and they won't bend or break the first time you drop your new Apple Watch and bend over to pick it back up.... ;)

Good thing I put the iPhone in my inside suit pocket. I'll get a belt clip for when I'm not wearing a suit.

Nice. I carry my 6+ in my suit jacket pocket as well.
No problem for me as i always wear a suit. (the summers here are quite cool).

Maybe Apple will turn away from their obsession with making products as thin as possible. I don't think the road they are on here is a positive one. There comes a point, where it can be taken too far and I think Apple is starting to cross that line.

** Speaking in general here **

If people can't hardly use a product as one normally would, without the product incurring unnecessary damage because it is so thin, customers are going to stop investing money in the product line, not to mention that things could get ugly from a public relations point of view.

So it wasn't thinner and didn't have a protruding camera lens until after you ordered it?
And phones have been bending for as long as people have been stupid enough to sit on them and do lord knows what else to them. Just as that guys post from earlier demonstrated. There was a bent iPhone 4 in it.
Guess what, my 4S is 3 years old and it isn't remotely bent. You know why? I looked after it. Whats so hard to grasp about that?
A 128gb iPhone 6+ costs a lot of money. You'd have to be bloody stupid to just toss it into a pocket completely unprotected, and then sit on it.

I'm getting so tired of reading all this on the Internet today. For those who "really" have an issue, I'm sorry. But, it really seems like more of a non issue with a bunch of people heaping on complaint upon complaint from people who actually haven't experienced the problem. I've only seen 4 photos of bent iPhone 6+ (I own an iPhone 6). Sure, if you press hard enough against anything, it will bend, or break. There is a thing called taking care of your devices...

To those who might respond to this response saying "you should be able to place this in your front pocket" I say "OK, I agree.... but, I personally would never have expected to place the iPhone 6+ in my pocket, it's too big."...

Also, for those who keep saying that's the only place they ever carry their phone, do you honestly own an iPhone 6+???? Or, are you just jumping on the bandwagon, feeling great about yourselves because your coming up with what you think are witty puns. Honestly, it's a pretty big joke when news agencies (NBC, FOX etc) are all filled with the same exact pictures, siting the same exact sources.

And yes, I do believe that the phones don't have as much structural integrity as the iPhone 5.... but, what do you expect, it's a longer, slimmer phone.

Just my rant for the day.... also, if you are going to respond back complaining of the bending, please also post a photo of your bent phone. I'm tired of seeing that same video, and the same 4 photos.

I assumed incorrectly that it would have the same rigidity as my 5. Clearly thats not the case but thinking about the sim tray location, curved sides, thinner device, it all makes sense now. Hence my canceled order.

Does ANYONE actually prefer the protruding lens with less battery life over say for example an i6 with the same thickness of the 5 with improved battery life, a flush lens, and square sides for improved rigidity.

Aleluia brotha!

Apple could of actually made the iPhone 6 thick enough to make the camera flush and it would still be around 0.5mm THINNER then the iPhone 5. They have literally done it for no reason.
