Spending as little as possible on R&D which is why things like new chassis designs and new internals, like an Apple made modem or "iPhone Slim" redesign will come to any other iPhone before coming to SE.

Um... It is not me being creative. The rumours itself is actually suggesting Apple Modem will come to SE first and then Slim.

Apple own modem would save them quite a bit, as they would not have to pay Qualcomm for anything else but patent fees. The modem will not be designed to compete against Qualcomm but to save money and for it to work better on and more efficient on iOS products

Pure speculation on the iPhone Slim right now and too early to tell. We will get a better idea in January. Reports are saying the price will be higher than the pro max at $1299

It doesn't, because the cost of Modem from Qualcomm is already cheap. That is the point of complain in court from Intel why they couldn't compete when they were only selling it for $20 a piece and couldn't make any profits out of it. On a leading node Apple is barely making ~$5 a piece on BOM cost savings excluding R&D.

The only reason they are rolling this out on SE first were to have real world usage testing it. And I believe I actually wrote something about how Modem should roll out first in SE back in 2019.

Yes I agree and also you get the all “new Apple Custom Silicon 5G modem” use all the 5G data you want without hurting your battery 🔋 Life. It will be just like your WiFi which saves your battery a lot

Apple Intelligence is too much of a high end feature to put on a Budget SE model and it will pretty much be in Beta form meaning constantly needing to be updated over the next several months if not year to really start to be smooth AI experience

Apple Intelligence is no different from them first starting any new product ie: iPhone, Apple Watch, Vision Pro. The product development cycle will take time and improve over time
You get it.

Also, iPhones 15/15 Plus have USB-C and this will remain in the line-up post iPhones 16 launch and post December 28 but at a starting price of $699.

There’s no way Apple is putting AI in the $429 to sub-$699 iPhone SE 4 but not in the $699-$799 iPhones 15/15 Plus.

The value/$ ladder breaks and SE 4 starts killing iPhone 15/15 Plus sales if it gets AI and sells at <$699

SE 4 needs to be a palpable step down from iPhones 15 and 16 in most ways. That ain’t the case if it gets both the latest SoC and AI.

Apple still doesn't have to.

The $799 iPhones 12, 13, and 14 have all sold incredibly well despite fairly outdated specs just because its iPhone.

I'm sure a lot of consumers don't understand or feel the need for Apple Intelligence and would gladly buy a brand new iPhone, with Face ID and A17 or A18 SoC, for some $429-$499.

Like with iPhones 13 and 14, Apple will make sure to offer them in some great, popping colors that other brands don't offer, and voila, SE 4 is a success.
I know you’re right. But this doesn’t make it good. If a carmaker made the same choices everyone consider it a scam.

You've heard it from me. The iPhone is set to become the AiPhone. Rolls off the tongue like the half-baked stuff leaking out of Apple.

Apple doesn’t care about beating Qualcomm in modem performance and offering there modem worldwide like Qualcomm.

Apple wants to save cost on modem fees and to fine tune the modem to specifically work on there iOS which could result in better battery life when using 5G data
They need to at least be on par with Qualcomm when it comes to performance and efficiancy, and that's not an easy task. Again, not saying its impossible and if anyone can do this its Apple, but it comes with cost. I'm sure Apple have it all figures out tho, Tim knows how to make money.
I can imagine that the incentive might have changes slightly since they aren't going to produce cars, but considering their marketshare its prob worth it.

I don't think their modems are only intended for iOS devices, its intended for most of their devices.

SE 4 fans should be thankful Apple is generous enough to even put OLED on a budget model.

SE 4 will have these top features for only $499:
1. OLED bright sharp smooth screen
2. USB-C for universal plug inputs
3. A18 chip for great performance and efficiency
4. Face ID with full edge to edge screen design with no home button
5. Apple 5G modem which will be specific for its IOS platform which will result in super battery savings
6. 48 megapixel camera with 1 lense on the back of the SE 4

If you don’t care about AI and Dynamic Island and Larger screens, I would wait for the SE 4 in March 25

What will Apple do to keep the SE 4 at the $499 price? Remove AI or remove OLED?

My guy phones at this price point offer not just OLEDS but 120Hz OLEDs which Apple won't, the OLED they're using is older tech now that isn't too expensive to make, and much of it is parts bin so not much extra R&D cost

Yeah they’re probably gonna use the same OLED screen from the iPhone X📱, which is probably crazy cheap now.
