some keys stopped working incl. one for my name - help!!!!

So I turn on my macbook pro to log in and notice a number of keys arent working inc. 1 I need to enter my name, now I cant log on, not that it would make too much of a diff as about 8 keys arent working. Anyone ever have this problem?, am I missing something here or???is it hooped and in need of a doctor. I sure hope its an easy fix, I cant afford to toss more money at my comp.

It has a number lock and it is not on, still have keys not working A S X Z 4 6 all dont work.

Darn - I was hoping. I had my BT keyboard go "dead" - only certain keys worked. It was worth a shot.

Which model, in particular, do you have?

plug in an external usb keyboard so you can atleast get into the OS
