A selection of Los Angeles Lakers games during the 2025-26 season will be live streamed in the Apple Immersive format on the Apple Vision Pro.

The 3D games will be streamed in the forthcoming Spectrum SportsNet app on the Vision Pro, starting early next year, according to Apple. A schedule will be shared later this year. A subscription to a Spectrum internet plan or Spectrum SportsNet+ is needed to watch the live broadcasts, and visionOS 26 is also required. In addition, the live broadcasts are only available within Lakers broadcasting territory, in Southern California, Southern Nevada, and Hawaii.

Apple Immersive videos are 180-degree 8K recordings, captured with Spatial Audio.

"Viewers will feel the intensity of each game as if they were courtside, with perspectives impossible to capture in traditional broadcasts," says Apple.

Apple Immersive footage of the games will be captured with Blackmagic Design's new URSA Cine Immersive Live camera, which will be available for purchase next year.

Full game replays and highlights in the Apple Immersive format will be available on demand in both the Spectrum SportsNet and NBA apps on the Vision Pro, one to three days after the conclusion of each game, according to Apple.

More details were shared by TechRadar.

I was a big fan of Meta's VR180 streaming of NBA games during the last two seasons. Cameras at half court and behind either basket really made me feel "there" way more than any huge screen can. I hope Apple, Meta and everyone else keep pushing this format. It is absolutely one of those use cases for VR / XR that wows people, and makes them legitimately consider using the platform on a recurring basis.

My biggest complaints were resolution and FOV. I feel like with tech improvement we can legitimately start thinking about 180VR 3D in 6K/8K streaming of live entertainment in the future. Everything from concerts to tennis would just get instantly more awesome when watching at home. Everyone is after improving FOV over time, so we'll get there sooner or later.

I get that you can resize the ‘screen’ in your space and that’s an interesting asset, but honestly I can’t imagine sitting through an entire sports game having this stuck to my face.

And then there’s the social aspect. If you’re with friends, you’re not going to share the experience in the same manner.
Many watch a dozen hours of football every Sunday. If they did that they'd get a large market. A pity they lost out (who really knows why) on the Sunday ticket.

I’d be happy if more leagues would just move to 4K and 60fps — formats most TVs have supported for a decade now.

Even Friday Night Baseball is only 1080p30 at best. And some RSNs are still doing 720p30.

That should be very cool, too bad it requires Spectrum...
Yeah, kind of anoying. I'm a Lakers fan and I own a Vision Pro, so it was perfect until the mention Spectrum. Making the game available on the NBA app 1-3 after the game is kind of useless for a sport event. Especially when you have 82 games in a season. I would pay to watch the game on vision pro but spectrum is a LA only thing.

About time! Would be cool if they brought this to Friday Night Baseball and other sports. Then I might resubscribe to Apple TV+. And NFL and NHL partnership would be cool too.

The two people owning the AVP will be tickled as punch to finally have a use for it. Too bad the lakers haven't been very good these past few years - doesn't make for great watching :p
I would love to see the finals that the Chicago Bulls won back then replayed in 8K and then in an immersive version using AI. Just watching His Airness score those points. Hopefully we'll get to experience it all again :)
