Some M1 iPad Pro Orders Start Switching to 'Shipped' Status With May 21 Delivery

For the first time since I've been buying things from Apple they sorta missed the shipping date. Placing my order for a 2 TB 12.9 just a few minutes after orders were taken I was given an estimated delivery date of June 9-23. I was expecting to receive it on the 9th, as they normally beat their estimates. But this was a date range, not a single date, so clearly things were different this time.
So the item shipped yesterday, from China. Estimated arrival is the 15th, 8 days from now. Apple did give a date range, so I was warned, but given that they usually beat expectations this was a surprise. But i guess that they did beat the 23rd ....

This really isn’t true though. Does Apple normally deliver on that early date in the range? Yes. Is it frustrating that they aren’t? Yes. Would I be frustrated too? Also yes. However, there have been news articles for months saying that this time was going to be different due to chip shortages and also in our case, the mini-LED supply. With other companies delayed so long that they don’t have estimated delivery dates for their products, Apple is still doing quite well comparatively. I’m certainly not saying you don’t have the right to be frustrated based on your personal expectations, but it’s not fair to say “they sorta missed the shipping date” when they will deliver on the 15th which beats the stated delivery date by 8 days. Hopefully you find the new iPad worth the wait when you get it though!
