Hey lol if this guy wants to download photoshop cs4 from a torrent with a trojan than go ahead. Natural selection at its finest. The majority of people who pirate PS suck at it anyway. Elements may be a better program....and purchase... to get into.

Op, from your posted usage any computer will suite you fine. I'm not sure if you just came to a mac board just so we can say that apple machines are great but, thats all you will probably get from most people. It looks like you havn't actually done your research. ALL of this information can be found on the interwebz via google, and specifically apples own website. In a country full of 'starving people' and an abundance of pirated goods, you'll need to do your research to make an informed decision. You don't want a knock-off 'appel mackbook' do you?

This is true. You should buy another software, designed towards amateurs, so you can take full advantage of it. To use Photoshop is somethink like trying to pilot an aircraft... you'd better stick with your car.

The guy is from a poor country but is not himself poor, that's why he can afford to buy a Mac, he could very well afford iWork (if not Microsoft Office 2008) or could use OpenOffice.org version 3.01. There's no excuse for stealing software or anything else, I want to buy a Rolls Royce and am short of cash does not justify me stealing it/for it. Pirating software is stealing money from the developers (not all of them are millionaires).

Torrents are ilegal

I'd love it how every time torrents are mentioned here, there's a massive barrage of posts saying "torrents are illegal" and "we not going to help you" Then the threat turns into a debate on the morals of piracy, when piracy was never mentioned in the first place.

In this case, he said he uses torrents. Maybe he just likes downloading lots of Linux.

1.You can't be sure if it has a trojan or not.
2.How are you supposed to learn if you don't have the program?
3.The OP didn't say nothing about pirated apps. You know, you can get also movies or music from torrents.

1)Torrent - I am Extreme torrent user 24/7
Transmission

2)Facebooking / Online Surfing
Firefox 3

3)Chatting in YM and MSN
Adium

4)Listening to Musics/Watching DVD
iTunes, VLC and install Perian

5)PDF reading - I consider myself a serious student.
Preview or maybe you could install Adobe's Acrobat if you make a lot of PDFs.

6)Dvd Writing - as a am hardcore collector of music and movie i sometime bring my friends' Harddrive and write the whole damn thing to blank dvd?
Disk Utility or Toast.

will a 2 GB ram be enough?
Use your Mac for a month and if it's inadequate go to Newegg.com and find your upgrade(s).
How much can a superdrive handle? I am going to get extreme on writing DVDs.
Should i try an external writer.
The Matshita dvd drives aren't the greatest. They're riplocked so my suggestion is to find an external reader/writer.

I see the inquisition has already been here. So let me ask the chief witch hunters: Since when are torrents illegal? In case you haven't noticed, most completely legal open source stuff is distributed via torrents these days.

The guy comes form a third world country that in all probability does not even have the copyright laws that the United States should be ashamed and not "proud" of. (Putting minors and their mothers in a court of law for a criminal trial because they downloaded Britney Spears mp3s - if it wasn't so sad, it would be laughable.)

Anyway. I don't think that a Mac is the right computer for South Asia, for a bunch of reasons. One is that it probably won't survive the climate conditions long enough, another is that if Macs are not sold there, then how do you intend to fix it if it's broken? No spare parts, no service center.

Buy a PC notebook instead, preferably an outdoor model. Use open source software with it to stay independent from the Western software industry and torrent as much stuff that's under a Creative Commons license as you like. You won't be missing much, anyway - seeing that Hollywood is mostly poorly remaking Asian and European movies lately.

Pirated software was mentioned, just the OP edited his post.

Some of you guys really, really, REALLY need to take the sticks out of your asses.

With the corporate t00lism of some of you, you may as well work for the RIAA.

Oh well, good on him for editing it.

I'm still going to help the OP with his problems.

Don't.

Some of you guys really, really, REALLY need to take the sticks out of your asses.

With the corporate t00lism of some of you, you may as well work for the RIAA.
