I spoke to a very nice advisor at Apple today regarding this, since I was in the same predicament. They informed me that Apple will be doing a sweep of accounts and making sure people are within the 2 watch limit per household.

They gave me 2 options, wait til one ships and order another -or- use a second Apple ID.

What did you do there

Why did you need the options, are you trying to order > 2?

Per houselond doesnt make any sense. What if I ordered 1, my wife oredered 1 and I had multiple kids that ordered 1. We all live in the same household. I dont think apple is going to cancel more than 2 in the same household.

Sweeping for more than 2 on one account would make more sense but would they be sweeping for more than 2 in one order or are would they be sweeping for more than 2 on one account?

Also, would they contact customers before cancelling orders to see which orders the customer wants to keep? What if you ordered 3 or 4 seperate colors and Apple ends up cancelling the 2 colors that you wanted most. This will be a very slippery slope for Apple to manage.

You can't physically purchase 2 in one order now, could anyone before? Perhaps this is their way of filtering it now

I needed to order 4. One for my wife, myself and 2 for family members who were not willing to stay up...

I ended up canceling the third watch from my main ID, and having them order another of the watch I canceled on another ID, shipped to another address, with another CC. They said it would fly, and that if there were any issues, they'd call first. Now I need to figure out what my mom needs -- a sport or a milanese loop, and order that.

They were nice about it and said if they find non-compliance, that they'd put orders on hold and call.

I ordered 3 from my app, but each was paid with ApplePay individually… not sure if it counts or not.
I then ordered a 4th on the web site. I have 4 on a single AppleID right now.

I ordered a 38mm at 3:01 EST and then just ordered a 42mm with the same ID just in case I want to return the 38mm. Both space grey Sport, if that matters. I just talked to an Apple rep through the Store chat to ask about the return policy. I asked about an order limit too and he said that the limit is 2 per customer.

On the phone with them now. They confirmed 2 per ID. They called it 'household', but I am assuming it's ID related.

The rep wasn't sure, put me on hold and checked with the Watch group and came back to say that it was definitely 2.

I asked if I could move 2 of my 4 to another ID, but wasn't able to.
She threw in my extra charging cable at no charge because she knew I wasn't happy that I'm not getting my full order.

Thanks for posting updates, and sorry to those of you who need > 2 for households.

My two remain intact. Sort of worried that since I *had* three at one point I may be the victim of an arbitrary culling. (I cancelled the third early this morning myself.)
