As a New Yorker, I'll just point out that what you refer to as NYC is actually the borough of Manhattan. Some areas of the city really are gorgeous, and others like the one you see pictured are not. NYC is made up of 4 other boroughs, which really are very different from Manhattan, and can be a quite nice place to live :)

That being said, there are some really ugly areas of the city, including the one you see pictured above.

Agree.
NYC (Manhattan) is not for everyone. Is expensive, grimy and unique. I moved from Guatemala (Central America) to live in Manhattan and I love it.
I still have my unlocked iPhone 5 64Gb, once all this craziness fades out I'll consider jumping to the 6, the 6+ is to big for me.

And I went to this store to experience the device and it was "OK" but the line was really mind blowing.

New York is beautiful I would love to live there. It is a magical place and the central park is amazing

As someone who lives here, I totally understand how you wouldn't want to live in "the city" (aka Manhattan). I myself don't. There are some really nice places to live, but sadly they are expensive. However if you view NYC for what it is, which is a massive city comprised of 5 boroughs, you can have a less negative view of living there. I live in a nice area of Queens that is only a short train ride away from Manhattan. New York living can definitely be a bit different from how it's thought of by outsiders, but of course there are also times where it can be exactly as you might picture it.

It's obvious that Apple needs to re-evaluate how they launch future products. China needs to be a part of the first wave of product releases so that the market is flooded with enough product to quell the demand. Scalpers need to be brought to their knees. Sick of it.

I have been in plenty of lines where people of non-Asian decent were buying iPads or iPhones to resell. That is not going to stop. What I wish would stop is people seeing someone of Asian decent and calling them Chinese without knowing they are Chinese. I would also wish they would stop assuming that they are all scalpers or being paid to be in line. WTF Mac rumours.

Some sad scenes from this morning...

Go to NYU and walk around - 99% - not racist here but there is a massive influx of suspicious illegals flooding our nation and soon we will not have enough food and water for all of them and the real fight will really begin.

Well here in NJ half the people in line were Chinese. I even sold one of them my extra iPhone for $100 profit. I have zero issues with what they do, we live in a capitalist society and they get in line before anyone else. Stop complaining.

I could not agree more. My problem is when these people leave a significant amount of municipal waste on the streets while waiting. Is it so hard for everyone to bring a trash bag with them and place their waste in it for the duration of their stay. I also have a problem with people allowing friends and family to cut into the line. Aside from those points, I think these scalping masterminds who send these people out there to buy the phones ar really unto something. A fairly simple way to make some extra annum once per annum.

I live the middle of the melting pott in a neighborhood called Hell's Kitchen a couple of blocks away from Times Square.

There are several things going on here on these pictures that many do not understand when they don't live in NY.

As stated above "NY" is formed of 5 boroughs (but not NY State that's another story).

Historically NY has been the melting pott of immigrants, hence the Titanic was supposed to dock in NY, therefore there are big communities of Latinos, Asians and Europeans to name the big ones.

We are an immigrant country we have lots of people with different ethnicity.

Yes I know that, my country is similar, but It caught my attention the number of them, nothing more than that, it was not intended to hurt anybody.. Sorry if it was interpreted in other way..

Apple would love to sell the iphone 6 on the same date as the USA but because China is not an easy country they have to wait for some special permits that lets them sell the iphone 6 in that country. As of this time I have read that they need another permit to sell the iphone 6.

PS. Keep in mind that should one choose to, one could have lined up with them instead of preordering online.

There was a post earlier from a chap in the UK whom did just that, but because of rude and threatening behaviour from various people,in line who allowed bunches more people to cut in line with them, went from being 200th in an overnight queue, to 400th and going home phoneless.

So that slightly holier than thou "You too could have gotten an iPhone 6 on release day, all you had to do,was get there before the scalpers" statement isn't always true.

That would be unacceptable behaviour in my books. I would have captured it on my camera phone and showed it to the Apple staff.

Thanks for the pics. Looks like Apple restocked overnight.

I can find a crappy part of any town.

Don't get me started on Hollywood, CA.

Everywhere in the world people have posted pictures of the lines, most of the people in the lines are Asians, Asians sure do love their iPhones don't they? I'm in Glasgow and went by the line and yup you guessed it, the line was full of asians.

I just cannot fathom waiting in a line like that to get a phone. I ordered mine online at midnight, but am usually still awake at that time so it's not like it was a big stretch. I could not see setting an alarm to get up at 3AM or waiting in those lines for a phone! I love technology as much as the next person but life is too short to spend time like that for a phone where I could get one a week or two later. But hey, I guess people enjoy that kind of stuff so more power to them!

Everyone has different circumstances and situations in life. What if that person was broke and her child or elderly parent was sick and she didn't have money for medicine or food? Sure there are people out there for a quick flip and publicity but there are also very sad stories. America has one of the widest income divide in the world. Poverty is just around the corner from you.

Edit: I may be responding to a wrong post. Was trying to respond regarding scalpers

I felt so bad that she spent the night there and ended up with no iPhones.

The lucky new iPhone6 owners and the NYPD helping to register your new phones:)
Why is a woman, that doesn't speak english stand in line for an entire day to buy a phone?
Doesn't she have something better to do? Like learning english?!

Why is the police registering phones? What am I missing here?!

Where do you life? The street signs look like the U.S. But the people in line look all chinese.
Why are they standing in a line at all? Is there an iPhone shortage?
