Man, I know your pain. I went to play a joke on this guy by cutting his Christmas lights (again) and he had Burmese tiger traps, night vision cameras, and started taking potshots at me with a sniper rifle! The nerve!

I dunno. Maybe I just went too far. I mean, I did break out his car windows and trample some flowers in his yard before. Maybe I had it coming.

Welcome to the real world. These days, people suck. Even the better educated ones.

I have a neighbor that broke into my garage to steal an almost new tiller. The next day she was brazenly using it in her yard to till ground to plant a few tomato plants. I called the cops, who showed up and did nothing because she claimed she only "borrowed it" and intended to return it. Unfortunately she had ruined the engine because she ran it without any oil in it.

These neighbors aren't exactly lowlifes. The husband is a college professor and the wife has a college degree. She recently was appointed head of a committee to attract new businesses to the city.

The day after my mother died the son of another neighbor shot out every window and the headlights in my mom's car with a pellet gun. The car had 6000 miles on it. The cops were called but the cops refused to do anything because the neighbor was an ex-cop who was currently working for the city as manager of the street department.

Later that same year, the first neighbor dug up about 12 dozen orchids, irises, and other flowers from my yard. With a week or so, she and her kids managed to steal my 100+ pound concrete bird bath. They proudly set it up in her yard just across the street from my place.

Again, the cops did nothing. The only thing they know how to do is write speeding tickets. I've since installed cameras on my property. If something happens in the future I won't bother with the cops. I'll take the matter to civil court.

That's some crazy neighborhood you live in! Where do you live? The worst I've heard about up here is some people blowing their leaves into the neighbors yard, who then threatened to kill the offenders dog (but actually didn't do anything).

Man you're fast. Pretty good at dodging bricks too.;)

Yep. Makes my neighbors seem like girl scouts in comparison.

Ahhh, gone are the days of personal accountability. Gone are the days where disputes were either settled with a kind word or a fist fight. The relentless march of pacifism, political correctness, and the pussification of the American male is developing manifestations like those the OP is describing.

I'm guessing he somehow pissed off (either inadvertently or purposefully- it matters not) a neighbor. With the options of a civil approach or a fist fight off the table in these times, the coward is relegated to sniper-venge attacks such as those you've described.

You are involved in a battle, you just don't realize it yet. Develop a strategy and a defense, then implement it. Don't get violent. Don't do anything to get yourself arrested.

Whoa, some crazy stories here. Makes me kind of glad that I don't live in neighborhood with scrooges.
