Apple Music is experiencing an outage at the current time, which is causing the streaming music service not to function as expected for some subscribers.

According to Apple's System Status page, Apple Music has been experiencing issues since 1:17 p.m. Pacific Time, with the page suggesting that some users may be "experiencing intermittent issues" with the service.

iTunes Match and Radio also appear to be having problems at this time. We'll update this article when the outage has resolved.

Update: Apple Music is once again working as intended and the outage has been addressed, according to Apple's System Status page.

Been dealing with this for a couple hours. Honestly, I think I'm done with Apple Music for a while. Been a loyal customer for 4 years, and on and off before that.

I really am not a Spotify fan, but aside from when the whole damn internet goes out (AWS), I've rarely ever had an issue. I just wanna listen to my damn music.

With AM, I feel like I'm constantly fighting bugs. Incorrectly matched songs after years of it being fine, desktop app not syncing correctly and erasing all of my changes, my songs list jumping all the way to the bottom of my library when I add a song to a playlist for over a YEAR now, etc. It's tiring.

I do have to wonder who the hell is running Apple Music platform behind the scenes.

The whole thing is constantly buggy as hell, at least on my Mac. Half the time it doesn't successfully sync the library and then refuses to add tracks.

I'm surprised anyone noticed it was broken more than normal....

I can't see myself being tempted by other services until they come out with equivalent lossless support for no extra cost. IMO, Apple leapfrogged the competition in terms of cost/feature ratios with that move.

I'd like Apple Music to be more stable, but it isn't nearly bad enough to cause me to jump ship.

EDIT
I thought I’d mention that my use case for lossless isn’t Bluetooth (in which case lossless wouldn’t make much difference). Anyone who doubts the difference lossless makes should try listening to a well recorded track in both lossless and 256-bit through a high end system. I have a hard believing anyone with good hearing could miss the difference. (Though I know some people just don’t care enough about it for it to matter.)

Very true. AM has been very glitchy and clunky for a while now. I am going to wait until next week round of softwares updates.

If nothing changes, I´ll evaluate my choices.

I wonder if I should switch back to Spotify.

Literally just canceled my Spotify account within the last hour. It's leaps and bounds better than Apple Music, but Apple Music is free on VZW. I kept both for a couple years, but now I'm looking at ways to cut back on spending

The only issue I have with Apple Music is that it exists.
Absolutely anachronistic interface. Basic stuff is “just not working”.
If you are a fan and know no better ks ok, try other apps.
How can you listen only to your “favorite” songs easily in Apple Music?. You can’t!!!.

No issues for me. I’ve been streaming all day.

/Just supporting the statement that this only affects some users.

Yes, it's snarky. But the only times I've ever had issues like this with my vinyl records and CDs is when my power goes out... and that hasn't happened in about twenty years.

Progress.

Tried Apple Music for a while, and though I liked the idea of real playlists curated by real humans, rather than some AI, it still didn't bring me joy. So I just listen to the tunes I've bought or burned from CD, (on the Music app, which is a disgrace to the memory of iTunes) and BBC6 for curated DJ streams.

You're getting mad at the wrong people. It's streaming. This is what you get. If you don't want hiccups like this, buy physical albums. Because as long as you're tethered to the internet for music, you're going to deal with its inherent headaches.

Always curious why everyone defaults to Spotify. Youtube music app is fantastic and includes youtube premium for the same cost as a regular spotify sub.

Also honorable mention would be Pandora Premium (they are owned by SiriusXM now and might give you other perks... Havent looked at in a while, but also a fantastic service).

It just occurred to me that this happened a couple days after they announced they were killing the iPod, because people would rather have streaming services instead of a device that stores & plays media. How's that working out?
