Just two days after Apple released iOS 15 and iPadOS 15 to the public, a new wave of user reports from social media are already pointing to some widespread bugs, this time pertaining to reported storage on a device.

A flood of users has taken to Twitter over the last 24-48 hours to share their experience that after updating to iOS 15, they see an "iPhone Storage Almost Full" warning inside of Settings, despite their iPhone having a sufficient amount of storage left. Apple Support's Twitter account is riddled with users reporting the bug.

Annoyingly, the warning inside of Settings can't be dismissed, and tapping on it only takes users to the iPhone Storage page within Settings, where they're reminded that their device, in the majority of cases, still has an adequate amount of storage left. A post on Apple Support's Community Forums, which has racked up over 900 views at the time of writing in just over 13 hours, also includes users reporting the bug.

The warning, however, is not the only storage-related bug that's irking some users. Other reports on Twitter indicate that iOS 15 has resulted in a bug in which the amount of available storage on a device is sometimes shown to be more than the device's capacity. In other cases, an iOS 15 bug results in the wrong tabulation for how much storage a user's content is taking up.

In all cases, Apple Support is advising users to restart their devices, but that does little to address the problem. Some of the bugs experienced by users appeared during the beta testing period for iOS 15 over the summer, which is meant to fix as many bugs and issues as possible before the update becomes widely available.

This week, Apple began testing iOS and iPadOS 15.1; however, given the widespread nature of these bugs, Apple may decide to release iOS 15.0.1 to address the storage bug and other improvements and security enchantments. We've reached out to Apple for comment.

I actually saw this problem on my Apple Watch 5 after the update. I had never seen the warning before the update. Started getting a notification on the watch that the storage was full. Removing apps did not solve it. I had already started a trade-in before the new watch announcement so I reset it and boxed it up.

I upgraded day one as usual. So far, haven't experienced any real problems. I was going to hold off, but after talking to some people I've talked to for quite a few years that are more professional / business minded when it comes to upgrading software, and they didn't show a concern, I went ahead. I say this because it's usually these type of people who value stability over bleeding edge.

With this said, I did have a space issue when upgrading my iPad to iPadOS 15, but with the iPad, it's because I bought a 16 GB iPad Air 2 in a time where having low storage for a consumption only devices wasn't as big of a concern as it is today. Either way, I did an erase and restore, and restored from an iCloud backup on that device, and actually got space back, even though my previous config was the one restored. Seems like these devices just build up cruft overtime, and should be wiped every now and then. Not saying that's the reason for the bug people are seeing. Just saying it resolved my particular space related issues.

this is unrelated to this issue but something that keeps happening to literally every iphone in my immediate family. does apple purposely reset the podcast setting after every minor update so that they spring back into downloading every episode ever or is that just me? just deleted 30gb of podcasts which started downloading again from my iphone and my wife who has literally never opened the podcast app had 18gb worth of podcasts downloaded when she got an iphone storage full message yesterday. how can we be on iOS 15 and they still can't figure out the built in podcast app...

Yes, it's a deliberate move by Apple, first make your phone slow almost useless then create extra packets of data to fill up your phone storage SO THAT YOU CAN THROW YOUR PHONE AND BUY NEW ONE! VERY TYPICAL GREEDY APPPLE.
