My storage is showing a large amount of data for photos and reminders. Photos is up to 31GB and Reminders is almost 22 GB. I'm not so concerned with photos but it does seem to be a lot more than usual. Reminders is odd. I only have three daily reminders. I turned off the iCloud backup and deleted the data from iCloud. Then tried offloading and deleting the app but it still shows 22GB of data.

Yes, it's a deliberate move by Apple, first make your phone slow almost useless then create extra packets of data to fill up your phone storage SO THAT YOU CAN THROW YOUR PHONE AND BUY NEW ONE! VERY TYPICAL GREEDY APPPLE.
No this is just a stupid bug. Storage isn’t actually getting full, it’s just that pesky notification mistakenly showing up in settings even when there’s a lot of free space available (I got it myself after upgrading to iOS 15 even though I have 20GB of free space out of my iphone’s 64 GB). It’s Unacceptable to see such a bug in a public release, but it’s still just a bug. If it were a trick to trigger some sales, it would be a stupid trick. Most people wouldn’t fall for it since their devices aren’t actually full, besides even a real ‘storage almost full’ issue can be easily fixed without buying a new phone by simply deleting some stuff.

Can’t believe Apple is holding my watch hostage as I can’t update it without updating my iPhone. Absolutely time to change management at Apple. They just can’t be trusted any longer!

For years Apple has been allowing to install minor software updates on the watch without updating the paired iphone first, they just didn’t allow to do that with the yearly major update. I thought that was set to change this year after Apple released the new apple watch family setup feature last spring, since that would lead to some people owning an apple watch without owning an iphone too, but to my surprise it didn’t change.

“Almost” is but a matter of opinion.

Technically, it’s not wrong.

But just technically.

And even “just” and “technically” are but matters of opinion.
Sorry to burst your bubble, but when you have a 64 GB phone with 20 GB still free, that can’t count as storage almost full by any standard. 20 GB is plenty of free space. Yet many of us got the notification under exactly those circumstances after upgrading to iOS 15. No doubt it’s a software bug.

All these Crying Babies should go back to school A to learn how to use device. it is not a bug... user error. Most of these user do not have enough cloud coverage. and they need to go to General -Iphone storage and click show all and delete all the garbage they have sitting in their iPhones, including IOS updates.

Not true. You should inform yourself before posting such a comment. First of all, icloud storage is independent from iphone storage. If you were running out of space on icloud but have plenty of free space on your iphone, you wouldn’t get an ‘iphone storage almost full’ notification, you’d get an ‘icloud storage almost full’ notification instead. Second, people are getting the iphone storage almost full notification even with plenty of free space in their iphone storage: For example I have a 64 GB iphone XS with 20 GB still free and got the iphone storage almost full notification upon upgrading to iOS 15. And so did many other users under the same or similar circumstances. That’s not an iphone storage almost full. Not by any standard. This is already a documented bug. Third, it’s also already been documented that the notification doesn’t do anytime when you tap on it, unlike a true full storage notification (and I can confirm this myself), and that deleting stuff doesn’t clear the notification at all in this case. We have to wait for the next software update, which will presumably fix this bug.

So I wonder if these peoples' phones are almost full and the info page is just wrong.
Definitely not. My XS showed 20 GB free before updating to iOS 15 and about the same afterwards, yet I got the almost full notification upon upgrading.

Seems there is a storage glitch. There are a few other threads about it now. System Data is wildly high. My iPhone 11 that I transferred to my iPhone 13 Pro currently sits at 41 GB of 128 GB used with System Data at 10 MB. My iPhone 13 Pro is at 95 GB of 128 GB used and System Data at 36 GB.

I have a similar bug, except instead of incorrectly saying the phone is full, it says it’s empty. My iPhone Storage pages says “0KB out of 256GB” are being used, which is obviously incorrect.
Yep, that’s what I have on my 256GB iPad, yet it clearly shows I’ve used nearly two thirds of the storage, and on the About page it says I have 271.16GB available of 256GB capacity so I guess that’s where the Zero KB comes from. On my iPhone it’s 198.51GB available on the About page, and the Storage page confirms that but it shows I’m using nearly half the 256GB as it should. 🙄

I had that issue too, and also the false ‘iphone storage almost full’ notification. The notification was removed by iOS 15.0.1, but the zero kb thing persists even after installing that update. And the zero kb thing is happening on my ipad too.

the problem persists even with iOS 15.0.2

Bahahahahah Same here.... Different information on 2 screens on the phone. Which is different from plugged in, in the Finder Window.

New 13 Pro Max from a clean Backup on upgrade from a 12 running 15.0.

Tried all including a full factory restore. At this point I just gotta remember not to look at the info pages.

I had the same issue as above on my iPhone. It is fixed now after updating to 15.1

* UPDATE *

Just as @jim468 stated before me, IOS 15.1 has resolved this issue for me as well. On the phone and on the Macbook, both match pretty even now. ????

I just updated to 15.1.1 and the bug appeared while it was downloading the update. I saw a red badge with a 2 on my Settings app just before installation, and now, after successful transition to 15.1.1, I still have one badge remaining warning me about low storage, and which I cannot remove. So annoying! Will have to wait for the next update it seems...

All I know is last year my iPhone 12 128gb only used about 30-35gb of space. This year my iPhone 13 256 only has about 60gb free. Very similar downloads between the two phones. I’m on 15.2 and I have storage file size discrepancies as well.
