For me the solution has been using orher broswers such as Edge and Duckduck go that block the trackers, specially in some sites like these forums, my phone used to get quite warm after a few minutes of just browsing, but using those browsers that have stronger tracker prevention I have regained the trust of my iPhone not getting hot by doing menial stuff. Safari is a little poor to prevent abusive trackers from running like crazy.
Yes. I have started using Firefox as an alternative to safari. Now, my phone does not heat up while browsing. Maybe it has to do with the trackers and endless advertisements which the Safari cannot block.

By the way, regarding phone getting hotter, is it just below the camera module and the frame part below the power button?
 
Did somebody check the cpu usage on their device?

iPhone 11 on 14.0.1 here. Such similar issue happens with me. Phone would become warmer than usual whole browsing on safari. And it won’t cool down unless I turn on airplane mode. These bugs plaguing the iPhones are certainly not expected on this expensive devices.
1) background apps, turn ^(&( off, especially FB, 2) if its beta, turn of al the tracking stuff under privacy,
 
Swap out the 14 for 13, 12, 11, 10… etc., and you’ll find corresponding posts on MacRumors.

I'd like to understand their rationale for their disagreement, other than "being contrary with no reason".

My point was that @Boyyai would seem to think that this is a brand new issue that has never hit any other version of iOS given their “disagree”, obvious searchable history on MR notwithstanding…
