Price is fine. I have read people buying full ipad pro kit including keyboard, cover, pencil for $600. What amazes me more is lunatics trying to sell used gear for $50 off retail. That is more annoying. My local CL is filled with these "entrepreneurs"

So you will count on running into a poor thief? LOL!

You need to stay away from CL
LOL

Just because a good thief will tell a good tale doesn't mean that this step shouldn't be taken. I don't use CL, but I employ a series of "diagnostic tests" whenever I buy something from an individual to help me discern the truthfulness of the person and the quality of the item being sold.

Using these handful of tips/tricks has enabled me to avoid getting "taken" and overpaying for something.

A good thief will tell you exactly what you want to know.

lol it's only one of the many questions I ask before I know whether I would be wasting my time meeting up at a public location or not. You just asked why would one ask that question and my answer was why I do. You'd be surprised how many dumb answers you get. I was buying a phone years ago and figured I'd try CL, one guy was selling it because he dropped it too many times. Amazing how many "won it in a contest" or have so many generous uncles that buy it for them.

I have been lucky so far and meet people in public places. I mostly sell and both of us walk away happy. No doubt you need to "cull out" the tire kickers, you usually know when someone is serious.

Last three sales on eBay were non-payers and one even wated to make payments if I would send him the item.

No more eBay for me.

eBay is so hit and miss. I've had great experiences, and I've had those non payers that hike up the bids and then don't pay. The biggest turnoff these days are the fees are so high in EBay.
Craigslist isn't perfect either though. I've had my share of no shows and tons of phishing emails for every item I try to sell. Came in handy though when I shut my pool down this summer and sold the cover, solar cover, and equipment.

Craig's List is free so right off the bat I am happy. You do have to weed out the tire kickers and especially the one who want you to ship it somewhere. All in all CL is by far my go to for selling off used electronics. I even sold a mountain bike for more than what I paid for it.

It's unfortunate with EBay. I have made so much money in the last two years with them. But in the last year, I had so many non-payers, where I had to relist or Buyers who would ask if they could make payments, or ship first, pay later. I mean, some Of the buyers on eBay are plain stupid. Do they think I am a bank where they can make monthly installed payments?

I only sell on Craigslist now, it's a slower process. But it's been successful and I don't have to deal with the morons on eBay.

I bought an Xbox One BRAND NEW for $250 last year or so on craigslist, when it was still selling at $400, it was 100% legit, sometimes it's best not to worry where they got it from

That's a great deal. And fortunately, there are some honest sellers, at least we hope they are honest.

"Not worrying where they got it from" and "100% legit" are pretty much antithetical concepts. Just because you didn't get robbed, or end up with a fake/paperweight/blacklisted/locked unit doesn't mean it wasn't stolen.

Not my issue if it was stolen

FYI a girl in my city traded a hoverboard for two "sealed" iPhones via Craigslist. She then proceeded to re-list them for sale. When the buyer opened the phones in front of her they discovered that the boxes were filled with Play-Doh.

"A girl in your city." Then that "Girl" got burned because she wasn't smart enough to open the product to make sure the iPhones actually existed to begin with. It's not very difficult to reseal an iPhone box.

If it means she loses some money if you open the product she intended to resell as new, then so be it, because now she has two empty iPhone boxes with "Play Doh."

And @kngelv , didn't you post another thread where you stated a "Friend" was frauded by an AT&T carrier? Interesting you have these individuals you know who have been subjected to fraud.

As I said in that thread this site has more tools than pretty much every other message board out there.

For future reference, provide the link for the reader the first time, which will add credibility to your post. Otherwise, it seems highly anecdotal.

Also, it's possible to have a discussion without throwing juvenile comments around, hence why your insults were deleted.

Fair deal, I had the same thing going, although mine was used. Still in perfect condition though. I was even including the Apple silicone case and smart cover. I had no bites on craigslist, but ultimately was able to sell on ebay after relisting 4 times. I just don't think there is a market for them. Most people hang onto them for a while and they just aren't all that useful in my eyes. I liked the idea of an iOS future, but ended up going with a 7 plus and a new MacBook. Much better combo to me. Hopefully one day, Apple puts a better OS on the thing.

I get all my Apple products minus the phone from Craigslist.
Apple doesn't check for stolen devices. They only verify you can log into iCloud on your device.
Warranties and support follow the device not the owner.
So If buying off CL make sure you can log in and activate find my device and your good.
