I thought it was $15/200MB and an additional $15/200MB if you are on the 200MB plan.

Their is no understanding it.

Cell phone carriers are just like Apple, they do it their way and charge as much as they want.

Want a top of the line laptop running OS X?

You're a captive Apple customer and you're going to pay big bucks. That's the Apple Way.

They got my money and they're going to get yours.

Data usage is not consumable goods like milk and bread, it does not cost AT&T more whether they give you 200MB or 2GB, so if they can get more money by making you choose the 2GB plan, they win.

So, there are per/GB costs that AT&T does pay to other backbone providers. As long as you can stay on their network, that's one less cost.

There is also capacity. More capacity is more expensive, even more so in developed areas where they have to replace buried cables to get more capacity. Or more towers in developed areas where you would have to put it on someone's land, get their permission, and clearance from zoning in dense areas.

Now, that doesn't excuse the pricing model where less than double the price means 10x more bandwidth. It really comes across as wonky.

What a stupid ass chat. Poor rep. I HATE people like the op.

I agree. What's comical is within five seconds of ending the conversation the AT&T rep I'm sure simply forgot all about the OP yet here he is still consumed and talking about the experience.
Now, whose time was wasted?

You spent your time reading my **** and took the time to comment. My content was interesting enough for you to take time out of your life. You even felt compelled to comment. In that manner your just as bad as me bitching at AT&T.

I could have just left the subject alone, but I felt like having a conversation with people about a topic that does matter. Did I really need to take the time to have a pointless conversation with a rep? Of course not, but it adds context to the conversation.

Next time, instead of complaining to "the op" just leave the thread be. Don't read it if you "hate" it. Otherwise your just trolling my thread and being an ass.

For those of us who have not grandfathered into the unlimited data plan...
*data and prices per month
200MB = $15
2GB = $25

Now lets break this down. 2GB for $25 == $12.50 per GB

If you have the 200MB plan and you go over you get charged $10 per 1GB you go over.

So is 1GB a value of $10 or $12.50?

Is 200MB a value of $2.00 or $15.00?

I'm sure that most everyone will agree that something is really jacked up with this pricing.

Otherwise, please explain to me how any of this makes any sense.

I would assume they make that first 200mb $15 instead of the $2 they charge alacarte so that it isn't cheaper to just buy the 2mb plan and go over (it'd be $22 for 2.2GB vs $25 for 2gb if they did that)

She still got paid for her job. So her time wasn't being wasted. Unless she was working for free.

It was time that could've been spent helping a real customer or a real prospective customer, and not some kid who doesn't understand that the more of something you buy at once, the cheaper it is.

Those bastards! They changed their plan! I wonder when they did this?
The $15 plan has always been like that.

IMO, they never wanted to introduce the $15 plan. It's something they did for people who don't need data for their iPhones and wouldn't buy one if the $25 plan was the only option.

They don't want people switching to it.

No it has not. It has changed recently. I agree that is likely their outlook on the $15 plan.

See? Even you agree you're an AT&T Troll.

You guys have the data Plans all wrong.

First of all 2gb data is 25 dollars per month. If you go over 2gb then it's 10 dollars every additional gb.

The 200 mb plan is 15 dollars and if you go over it's another 15 dollars for every additional 200 mb. Thats all there is to it.

I think your complicating the actual situation a little much by asking the value If it's 2.00 dollars or 15 or 12.50 or 10.

The plans are black and white there is nothing complicated to it

What I know is that when I signed up for my data plan in August 2010 it was 1GB for $10 when you go over. Believe it or not that's what my plan was. I have no proof because I didn't expect it to change.

You were either misinformed or misunderstood the plans have been that way since they were introduced in june of 2010 right before the iPhone 4 was announced to be launched
