And why is this old-ass thread being resurrected....??

Cause some dude posted in it, it was on the front page, and some times stupid questions are forever.

Speaking of worthless replies, you don't get a cookie for noticing the post date and then being the elapsed time nazi...

Why do you need G/f.

Why do you need your cell phone

why do you need a car?

Don't buy it unless you need it then. I will just enjoy mine.

I couldn't resist, but those were just really bad examples.

You don't need one. It's mostly a plaything.

I just bought a new MBP, and currently have an 08 MBP....Maybe I am not in the targeting group for the iPad, but I am not sure if I would ever use the iPad... Outside of being a gadget freak, what does the iPad allow me to do that i can't do with my MBP, or my android Samsung Mesmerize? Just looking for suggestions, as I would like to be able to justify the purchase....

Thanks in advance!;)

You don't need to.

There is nothing that it can do that your MBP or Samsung can't do.

I was in the same boat as you. Meaning I couldn't figure out where it would fit into my usage style. I bought my mom the iPad. When the upgrade came out, I offered to cover 80% of the cost of the Ipad2 for her if she gave me the iPad.

I just find it fun to use. I play Zinga poker on it alot, and if I am tucked in bed and want to watch a movie or something it is very mobile and convienient. Basically I enjoy it and I will consider the iPad3 as an upgrade in the future.

I do have a Mac Air but really the iPad still feels more portable and it was my go to device between the two when I was driving across country.

Good luck with your decision.
