This is a very strange post in a quite weird thread…
So did it take you many years of research? Field trials? Special equipment?
😉

It came from necessity.

Typical college student = low money funds, lots of sitting down in chairs with computer/video games, and lack of desire to wash clothes.

so we looked to minimize the need of washing clothes vs. acquiring bad "butt" scents that would begin to turn away girls or other humans.

our conclusions generally included:

-1) the best seats in dorm rooms are the kind that give some slack. Hard-wooded chairs can result in "butt" sweat rather quickly and pants need to be washed quite frequently. Best would be sitting on bed or carpet.
-1b) it is best to take off your good pants the second you get into the dorm and switch to dedicated dorm pants that might be able to handle "butt" sweat better.
-2) daily showering is pretty much a must.
-3) Sitting in cold seats tend to make "butt" smell less rampant. (this one was just through observation though).
-4) shorts tend to gain more butt scents than long pants. Believe it or not, dressy pants and jeans are best. Work out pants are worse.

all of this led us to be able to wash pants maybe once every 3 weeks.

- 5) sprayable nice smells also work. i.e. cologne.

We all know that boxer briefs > boxers > tighty whities.

I find that the comfort vs. newness quotient can vary, depending on the type of garment. For example, well worn boxers are more comfortable than brand new boxers. Boxer briefs however, are more comfortable the newer they are. Also material plays a role in this equation as well, 100% cotton vs. polyester blend vs. spandex blend vs. 100% silk or silk blend, but that is beyond the scope of this discussion.

****, for me they go bad once a hole appears. I have socks that are at least 10 years old and still going great.

I'm with you on that. Most of my socks last almost forever it seems because they are not the typical white socks that wear out after 3 months or so.
