I didn't pre-order so my plan is to go to an att store about 5, then when the store opens I'm going to call my mom and have her go up there. At my att store the manager said that you only have to have an authorized user there not sure about apple stores though.

Main account holder has to be there. Same deal with Best Buy (I asked). The Authorized User thing is only for corporate AT&T stores.

Not according to every Apple employee I've talked to so far.

They've all said if you are the authorized user you can get one without the main account holder if you know the last four digits on his/her SSN, the zip code of the account, and the account holder's name.

I reserved my father's and my iPhone through the app store app. Mine went through just fine and I got the confirmation email. However, my fathers didn't. He says that he will take my iPhone(which I am buying with my own money ) if I cannot sort out his issue. I know that this problem is on Apple's server end and not mine.
Can I still reserve an iPhone for guaranteed availability?
If not can I forge a registration email (from my 32gb and replace it with 16gb) from my original email and give it to Apple and look oblivious( This is highly against my morals, but will do it if I have to).
Thanks for your help!
Apparently you haven't read the confirmation email you received. You are not guaranteed a phone either.

In my email confirmation for the pick up on 24 June it clearly states that my reservation will be held until close of business on 24 June. However, later down in the fine print it states “Pre-authorization does not guarantee iPhone availability at an Apple Retail Store. iPhone is sold on a first-come, first-served basis.”

Translated... It's just like gambling at Vegas, there's a good chance you lose.

After I got my email, I pre-ordered one, and now I'm covered.

So you basically stole someone's chance at getting an iPhone? Did you at least cancel it later?

Yeah, if YOU bought the phone with your OWN money than i would say tough luck, dad.

I suppose that I should provide the conclusion to this story. We started to wait in line at around 2 AM in the mall parking lot and patiently waited until 5:45 when we were allowed into the mall. Around 4:30 more people started to show up on foot and the crazy(literately insane) mall police woman would not let us out of the car to form a proper line with the On-footers. Around 5 AM more people in cars showed up(a lot more) and they were not allowed to exit either.
So 5:30 arrives and we are all allowed out of our cars and there is a mad dash to form the line( the mall police woman went crazy about this and threatened to pepper spray many of us). We ended up with a position about 3/4 of the line back and i later entered the reservation line(11th) and my father entered the walk-in line(around 200th).
All seems to be going well until the clock strikes 6:30 when my father's work calls and says that they need him to do an early run( he's a truck driver). He calls my mom to take his place and she rushes over to do so.
At this point there are over 300 people in the reservation line and it looks like it will be noon until the walk-in people are given credence to get their iPhone.
At 6:45 the Apple employees begin to clear everyone's reservations and the guy ahead of me said that he reserved two iPhones and only one went through(Sound familiar?) the nice Apple lady said that he could order one more than he reserved. Exhilarated, I asked her if I could do the same, she said that we could. So I call my mom over to our nice spot in line and then we order our 2 iPhones and are out of the place (much to envy of people still in line that we had to walk past) by 7:15AM.
IF you don't want to read all of that text then just know that the story ends happily and we both have shiny new iPhone 4's/
