thats been discussed. you dont have to post. maybe go catch up on the topic before you jump in. google.com

literally all covered in the news article we're all responding to. read the first post
Side note: I have the newer app installed, and I just use HomeKit to port out to my Sonos units, and I have zero problems.

Good advice. Not responding would have been better. You've been such a colossal help.
did you read the first post yet?
do you still have questions?

happy to answer them, but it seems like youre just lost.

"The first post." By whom? The 7-25 article on this site? Every Sonos article since? The Verge article? Yes.
Do I have questions? No. Nor am I lost.

have you tried playing your local library from the new app?

I am not going to bother. Have you not read my posts? I am not having trouble with any SONOS app because I haven't used it except for adding devices. Because I am not using it. Do I dare try this and somehow ruin my connectivity? Nah.

More disclosure here: I just re-installed everything in May (June?) without issue after I moved. Yes, the new-apparently-very-crappy version is installed on my phone and I am assuming all of the firmware on my devices are updated, but I am having no issues with my mix of SONOS speakers, PORT, and G1 HomePods.

Airplay is the way, yes.

yes, the first post of this thread is a news article. news articles contain the information you seek and are so dumbfounded by.

so, because you only use a small slice of the apps functionality, you cant fathom that users who do, have complaints about broken functionality?

it sounds like you dont have an issue, everythings working, and youre good. great.

but if you really are curious why this is news and why we are posting, you can read any number of those articles to understand what youre missing.

i dont know the point youre trying to make, nor why you are still posting.

are you trying to say there are not problems at all? or are you saying you cant read the articles that describe the issue?

good day!

You seem lost.

I am not dumbfounded at all, despite your repeated characterization. I asked if anyone could paraphrase or summarize what the functional/actual problem was (READ: be charitable) with the SONOS app other than "it has problems" was because it was news to me. You post nearly 10x the amount on here than I do.

You took issue with it, pedantically lecturing me on How News Works, and then you went ahead and summarized the latest article on SONOS (ironically, the kind of thing I was asking for in the first place). In the meantime, I have read the articles, understand the issues, and I have told you as much. You must be skimming my replies.

You could have ignored it, but I suspect you're always like this: Add nothing, be a dick. I suspect you will say "why are you still posting" but will not be able to resist replying.

HAVE A GOOD DAY

read any of the many articles, or dont. the issues are well described. its not clear what else you wanted to know that isnt in the article you claim to be aware of.

protip asking a question 5 pages deep into a thread that you can answer for yourself, and expecting someone to fill you in, mid discussion, isnt going to yield good results on any board.

Dear Professional Pedant:

My original question is the 6th reply in this thread, probably minutes after the Macrumors update.

no one asked for parallel development. this is a drastically new/different app. release it as a distinct app, let the paying users choose if/when they want to upgrade.

very simple. if they had done this, all of this would be a no-op and everyone would be happy. I'm gonna guess somewhere along the like Dev/Eng teams were cut and Contractors and PMs are at the helm.

edit: well well well. look at this article from today.

MBAs and VC Investor types, pay attention. Your great ideas for reducing cost end up biting your ass. Stop firing in house development teams and thinking non-technical, non-FTE resources are gonna be able to sail the ship.

Well well, turns out i was exactly right.
The smart people were ignored, management thought they knew best and proceeded to screw the pooch.

Most of my issues were fixed on the iPad and iPhone apps. It still a bit clumsy and non-intuitive however the one thing I do miss is that there used to be a set of letters down the side of lists like my music library and if I want to add in something from an artist who's name starts with something in the later part of the alphabet (say ZZ Top) then I seem to be madly scrolling like crazy rather than touch the "Z" and only look from there.

This feature still seems to be on the MacOS app but I am not always at a Mac when listening to music.
