Sonos today has begun its Father's Day sale, offering steep discounts on select home theater audio equipment. This includes record low prices on the Sonos Arc soundbar ($719), as well as various discounted bundles, all of which are rare deals we haven't tracked since earlier in the year.

This sale has a good balance between individual Sonos products and bundles that should help elevate your home theater setup with various soundbars, subwoofers, and speakers. Highlights of the event include the Sonos Arc for $719 ($180 off) and Sonos Sub Gen 3 for $639 ($160 off), which are rarely discounted outside of holiday events like this one.

We've accumulated a few of the devices in the sale below, but be sure to browse this landing page on the Sonos website for everything being discounted.

I had 7 rooms that were useless earlier this month due to the software update (yes, even on HDMI, Optical, or line in depending on the device), and it took about 1.5-2 weeks just to where I could actually watch TV or listen to music that was not streamed without audio dropouts and skips again. While some issue other issues are slowing getting resolved or better, I’m in the process of slowly ridding myself Sonos instead of taking advantage of the sale to upgrade as originally planned. I’ve already moved on to WiiM Amps in a couple of rooms and am pleased with the performance so far; since WiiM can share over AirPlay2, some Sonos devices won’t disappear quite as quickly as I thought because they support AP2 as I would with other systems.

I have an old Play:5 and it sounds great. The old version of the SONOS app (S1) is functional but newer ones are the pits and God help you if you have a house with mixed older and newer devices. Not worth the frustration.

I think Sonos will return to form, but this CEOs head has to roll. The trust is completely broken; the community will not trust Sonos under his leadership any longer. And more than most companies, Sonos' success depends so much on the community of loyal users and advocates.

That doesn't mean Sonos is worth the price, even at a discount.

"The best option that is still wildly overpriced", to me, means "don't buy it"

A problem we seem to have is that folks have a hard time saying "no" ... so the tech companies keep seeing how much they can get away with.

Companies keep shaving quality and bumping prices ... and too many people just accept it and "buy anyways"

The only real solution is to keep your wallet in your pocket

Overpriced is very subjective. Some feel Apple is overpriced and some feel BMWs are overpriced.

What makes you say Sonos is overpriced.
It might be somewhat subjective, but I have found that the majority of people who say BMW, Mercedes, Apple, Burberry, Thom Browne, Rolex, etc. are overpriced cannot afford products from these "overpriced" companies. I can buy Sonos all day long, but I wouldn't even put their gear in an ice fishing shanty if I happened to have one.

That doesn't actually refute my point

They can be both very overpriced and still be the best option

;):D

For something to be overpriced, suggests that you can buy something else for less money but get an equivalent experience. At least that's how I would define it, which may not be your definition.

For example the Silverado is overpriced because the F-150 is $2500 cheaper. Just a made up example.

But I guess when you say it's overpriced, what you mean is you just don't want to pay their prices, which is fair.

I feel the same way with Apple's stuff. I only buy their "SE" line of hardware because I think everything else they make is too expensive.

You can say that but the truth is there's nothing out there that is better.

For ease of use and software, Sonos sounded good enough for a lot of people—when we built a new house 5 years ago I went with Sonos because my wife needed easy and hated my home theater setup at the house that I built before I even met her because she didn’t understand it. Now that others have caught up enough, I feel comfortable enough to switch things up enough to try a combo of of Sonos, WiiM, and others using the AirPlay 2 standard for multiroom—my inexpensive $300 Amps have impressed me so far.

I think this can be true: For something to be overpriced, suggests that you can buy something else for less money but get an equivalent experience.

But what can also be true is: The product is overpriced because the value is not there for the price. In this case, Sonos is overpriced.

I can buy a $900 t-shirt or a $50 t-shirt. Regardless of the brand, the value will never be there for a $900 t-shirt when compared to a $50 t-shirt.

I guess I just don't see Sonos as that overpriced as the $900 t-shirt example. The Fives for example is probably the best speaker in its category at any price.

I used to work for a Sonos authorized reseller. I've alway thought there gear was overpriced garbage for what you get. 25% off isn't even a good start. If you'd like to know why their gear is subpar for the price, Google is your friend. 😁
This is simply not true. Sonos gets great reviews almost across the board on all of their products. Are they a little overpriced? Maybe. But I would say no more "overpriced" than Apple products. You pay for quality

Google "Sonos issues". This search just pulled back 6,550,000 results. You're welcome.

The main draw for me was it sounded good enough and the app was easy enough for my wife to play music and multiroom. Of course when the software release is so bad that speakers can’t even play audio from inputs, this frustration reached a whole new level.

This. I’m still struggling when trying to group speakers. I‘d bet a paycheck they knew it wasn’t ready, but leadership pressured the release. Nothing new under the sun.
