I hate how uninformed people just bash something without actually knowing anything about it
Ahh, I hate how the smug informed people can't possibly relate or bother to offer an informed intelligent response to a forum reply.

Plus, there was no bashing in my initial response. So ???

I know nothing about business or marketing but I feel compelled to say: when will these companies learn that they simply won’t excel by releasing a product that is more expensive than leading competitors such as Apple. It doesn’t matter if the Sony buds are better and if they provide more functionality. They can’t try and enter that same niche of a market and expect to aggressively compete. General population will go for the mainstream popular **** every time, espeicially if it’s cheaper. It’s not like they shouldn’t try, but why more than $199, doesn’t make any sense.

They have noise canceling which a huge deal and makes them more compelling then AirPods for some, worth the premium.

If it doesn’t support connecting to multiple devices like AirPods, you should skip this device

People will buy these primarily for their noise canceling capabilities I think. I would personally say goodbye to Apple’s chips for that (until Apple invents noise cancellation).

Don't forget the $30 off $60 American Express promo going on at Amazon til the end of the year. Brings it down to $199. Likewise, they have a 20 per cent promo as well using your Amex card.

Do noise cancelling ear buds even work well on flights. I have some over the ear noise cancelling headphones from Sony and they do far less to block out jet engine noise than my Corwin over the ear noise cancelling headphones.

Very happy with my WH-X1000 but always looking for the grail. ANC is essential for me. These have been preordered.

FYI, UK people, Amazon UK retail price is £220.

https://www.sony.co.uk/electronics/truly-wireless/wf-1000xm3/buy/wf1000xm3b.ce7

...I may buy a pair from 'somewhere' (B&H, maybe??) in NYC, when over there later this summer
($230+ ~$20 (8.875%) sales tax = £200 – same as UK price for AirPods 2 w/wireless case)! ;-)

...or I could just wait for them to drop a bit in price, as things tend to do.

...or I could wait (several years, lol!) for some Apple H-chipped NC stuff to come.

I find that case is probably the thing holding me back. AirPods are incredibly convenient, and fit in that otherwise useless change pocket in my jeans. These might work for travel, but my Bluetooth over-the-ear noise cancelling headphones have an optional wire I can use to plug into a plane’s entertainment system if I choose.

Granted I choose to less and less often now...

My Jabra 65t elite can connect to multiple devices.... When I'm behind my windows laptop it can play sounds from that, when I start a song from my phone it starts playing the sound from that...

Apple doesn't have exclusivity to standard Bluetooth protocols...

Apple airpods are the perfect shape for me, like 0 complaints and I see no room for improvement

My last pair of Sony Bluetooth in-ears worked for just over a year before what I'm assuming to be a failure of the momentary contact power button (it no longer feels right). They tended to fall out and had poor volume output especially given their marketing as a fitness model. But at least that was 3x as long as my Powerbeats 3s which self destructed regularly if sweat touched them.

That is muitipoint. But I think they mean by being able to link to multiple devices by iCloud account.
