During an on-stage interview at the Midem Music Industry Festival in Cannes today, Sony Music CEO Doug Morris confirmed Apple will indeed be introducing its "Apple Music" streaming service at its Worldwide Developers Conference keynote tomorrow, according to VentureBeat. While numerous sources have indicated the service will be unveiled at WWDC, Morris' confirmation is notable as coming from a close friend of Apple's Jimmy Iovine and one of the parties involved in the negotiations for launching the service.

"It's happening tomorrow," Morris said during an interview at Midem in Cannes that primarily focused on his storied career in the music industry.

A highlight of that career was a 37-year partnership with iconic producer Jimmy Iovine, who now is running Apple's music services after the company paid $3 billion to acquire Beats. Underscoring Iovine's role in the music industry, Morris said he still talks to him twice every day by phone. Morris said the move by Apple to bring in Iovine was a brilliant one.
Morris didn't reveal any other details about Apple Music, which is expected to be priced at $10 per month with a generous three-month free trial period and be accompanied by a revamped iTunes Radio service, but he expressed his view that Apple's entry into the paid subscription streaming market will be a "tipping point" for moving the industry from downloads to streaming.

Update Apple's Chief of French content for Apple TV has shared a photo on Instagram apparently showing he has added Apple Music to his responsibilities.

Am I the only one here who isn't looking forward to 20 minutes of Apple Watch & Apple Stores statistics and then another 30+ minutes dedicated to this music service?

I'm looking forward to stellar new OS X & iOS releases! And hopefully some other unknown surprises!

The problem with it becoming the tipping point for stream vs d/l is the data use on a mobile device. If you stream music regularly you will really hit data caps or need a larger cap, unless you have wifi access. In addition, it means no music when you can't stream, such as when flying unless you want to pay for wifi where it is available.

I'd like to see a two option model: buy the song outright or be able to stream and download with the d/ls only playable while you have an active subscription. They could auto-expire after a certain number roof days and whenever you connect to the server automatically extend the date to your next renewal date.

Going to be like Spotify, jlc1978. I would be shock if you couldn't download songs for offline use. Only difference between a song you buy & a song you download via the subscription service will be the DRM on the song via the subscription service.

I just want it available in Canada on day 1 (I know said it before, blah blah blah).

I think with the Apple Watch and Mac Pro. They have shown it is possible to create some surprises still without leaks.

The watch, whilst known about obviously, was only vaguely leaked with some case CADs hours before and the Mac Pro came from nowhere.

I am hoping for a Mac Pro update.

2015 Keynote:

- 30 minutes of "Look at our sales, WOW! Everyone give each other a hug, did we mention we love our customers?"
- iOS 9: Stability improvements!
- OS X: Stability improvements!
- Apple Music: "OMG look it's U-2!!!"
- Fade to black...

There. I just saved you two hours of time and months of Mandarin or sign language classes. You can thank me later.

I wonder if current beats subscribers will also get 3 months free. I'm losing my patience with the current service, it's curation is horrible. I need a "Pandora" like mode instead of the worthless sentence. Looking forward to seeing the new service.

This does sound interesting though. I hope apple nails it. Thankfully with the rumored 3 month free trial period It'll give people plenty of time to really check it out.

I'm sorry, what? That can't be a real question.
It is... There are no big money in money business no (at least not for company as big as apple). Apple should get it own services to some shape - icloud, maps and maybe push them internationally? (Maybe if you live in us you enjoy good apple maps but here it is incomparable with google maps)
