You want to know annoying? Talk to the legion of owners on their 2nd, 3rd, 4th (or beyond) Xbox. (My brother is on his 3rd).

Fan boy much? For gods sake stop posting all this stuff about how the PS3 owns the Xbox. I got the RROD and had to get a second xbox because the broke one was out of the warranty of 3 years. I paid for a new one gladly, even though I had enough for a PS3. This is because the Xbox's catalogue of games are, at least in my opinion, better than that of the PS3's. Im sorry to hear that your brother is on his 3rd xbox (If thats even true -_-) but you don't need to go on about it to everybody just to prove a point. If you come back with a comment about how your not a fanboy, just look at all the comments you've been making. It's like you've researched everything just to justify your choice to switch. If someone thinks the Xbox is better, it's their opinion. You're not a Sony Representative so stop acting like your one by trying to convince everyone that they have made here choice.

At CES everyone had a "slate" tablet. Now that the iPad is Apple's official product name, the "Sony Walkpad" is an expected response.

Have they named it yet? Other slates and tablets have been called "pad" for years. After all, there's only a limited choice of subnames: slate, pad, book. Walkpad would sound better than the alternatives.

And don't forget that Jobs wanted to name the iMac "the MacMan"... yuck. Doesn't that remind you of "Walkman" ? ;)

This so totally hillarious. This is worse than the Courier concept demo mock-up. At least with Microsoft's vaporware, you get to see SOMETHING. This is just an announcement of competition. Lame. No prototype, no illustrations or 3D... just a promise. How utterly lame.

You're Sony. You don't announce you're going to compete. You build something and you start selling it.

wow.

Isn't the PS3 more powerful than the 360?
The 360 has the stronger GPU but the PS3's processor when taken full advantage of can provide better results than the 360 since it can take load off of the PS3's GPU.

I'd love to see what Sony can do, hopefully with a more focused and sustained effort.

Do you even know what you're talking about?
A more focused ans sustained effort! WTF!
Sony has the psp and the pspgo(trash). Sony has the best electronic making prowess in the business. This article has you talking out your you know what.

What about Xbox 360 RROD in 30% of units or how the drive like to scratch discs.

Yeah, i think you need to do a bit of updating on your research. The Jasper rev of the 360 has around the same failure rates as the PS3 (7-10%). The first few gen of 360 had a failure rate of 30-50% +. My best friend has a First gen 360 and The drive died a month ago (no RRoD yet), he replaced the drive and it works flawlessly.

Dont forget that the PS3 has the YLoD. its the same like issue as the 360's RRoD. The older PS3 systems ran into it quite allot and sony has done nothing about it. the older PS3 failure rate was around 20-30%, the latest version of the phat and slim PS3 has a failure rates like the Jasper 360 (7-10%).

The disk scratching issue wasnt really the systems fault, it was a combination of faulty media and users standing the system on its end. I myself haven't ever seen a 360 scratch the disk no matter if it was on its end or not.

I still have a 35 inch CRT that my kids use for their primary crappy kids shows, and Wii gaming. Picture is still vibrant, sound still excellent. Too bad it weighs a frickin TON!

For me, Sony Bravia 120hz 52 inch LCD. If that thing last half the life of my Trinitron I will be a happy camper.

Good luck. I'm not a Sony hater but was very upset when my Bravia had a major LCD screen defect (horizontal line and blurry underneath) not a year and a half after purchase. Same thing happened with my parents. We both replaced with Samsung and I sprang for a 4 year extended warranty at Best Buy this time.

My old Triniton in the bedroom didn't stay flawless as long as I'd like but it did give about 4 good years and is watchable today (albeit with a color defect).

Actually, the disk scratching is because micrsoft cut corners when creating the lazer system. There is no rubber protective ring around the lazer so any movement could make the laser and the disc touch and then....

GRIND!

So...you're blaming the users for setting up their Xboxes in exactly the way Microsoft shows it in its advertising???

MS loves you! *smooch*

The hardware in the 3GS is better than what is avaliable in the PSP.

And yet, the fixation of 'touch screen only' leads to a sub par gaming experience.

Bleh. YLoD is real but it's virtually meaningless, especially if you compare it to the 360. People keep buying the 360 even after it dies because they are loyal to the brand and because they like the ecosystem (Live).

Ahhhh, as a PS3 owner though, I would love to see some kind of PSN integration on any platform that's not Sony's (that includes WP7).

Call me when you can make a phone call from an airplane sitting on a taxiway on your PSP.

I can do this from any dumbphone, point? (assume that this
is after landing, since every airline I've ever been on requires
that phones be shut off when the door closes for takeoff)

The question was about gaming.

Sony is a has-been.

Its Walkman line crumbled with competition from the iPod
The Playstation brand is failing in this generation of console wars
Their Vaio computers are not selling

Screw you Sony. I am never buying another one of your products. "This fault isn't covered under warranty". What? So faulty disc drives in my PSone and PS2 that were less than a year old don't get fixed? And my PSP randomly turns off.

iHate you Sony.

Wow. You apparently haven't seen any NPD numbers for a while huh? The PS3 has been outselling the 360 for quite a while now and the trend is increasing.

The Walkman?? Seriously? You're upset that the Walkman crumbled under the iPod? Show me another portable music player that didn't crumble when the iPod was released. LOL

If I were Sony I would create a custom os specifically for their device.

This is my number one issue with Sony. I've always regarded their laptops to be of premium pricing, often matching Apple, except at the end of the day you get a different OS with the mac, but with Sony, you just get Windows, so I don't see the point.

What you are smelling is the lack you actually doing some simple research.

Yes the 360 was made to stand upright. what i said about the disk scratching is from forum hunting and seeing it as the most explained.

Like i said (if you would read what i said) i haven't seen a 360 scratch a disk even if it was flat or on its end.

There is a issue with standing the 360 on its end, it restricts airflow from one of it major air intakes thus increasing the operating temp of the chips.

The old version of 360s air outlet was hot, the falcon reduced that but was still a bit hot, the Jaspers air it just warm.

meaningless ?

You have to have a PS3 that has failed from the YLoD to really understand how meaningless it really is. almost every first gen 60gb PS3 failed due to the YLoD or a PSU failure, about half of the 20gb and 80gb models failed due to YLoD. the later models reduced that due to shrinking the die size, and using better thermal compound but still happened. the slim i don't know about.

Although SONY never did anything about the issues with the YLoD, the PS3 still only has a year warranty, and no extended coverage for the YLoD.

I dont know anyboady whos had the yellow light of death. My mates 60GB model was sublime up until he dropped it on the concrete. My 80GB is still going strong.

Yet every Xbox owner I know has gotten a RRoD. Even one of the Jasper chips.

You do realise that there is 2 or 3 errors that get mistaken for the RRoD. one is a HDD issue, one is a AV cable issue, one is a PSU issue and they all get mistaken for the real RRoD. and just about every RRoD report for the jasper has been mistaken for the real RRoD. i am not saying that they don't or won't get it, i am saying it has a drastically reduced failure rate due to the RRoD.

a few friends had the pleasure of owning a PS3 that got the YLoD after a year of ownership. its not pleasant. $150 later and the replacement got it as well.

only one of my friends still has a still working first gen 360, the rest had them replaced and the replacements replaced. but the first and second gen was like that.

And how do you know its a jasper

The serial number, manufacturing date, PSU Wattage, Operating Voltage etc.

Its an Arcade there is no HDD.

Im not saying the PS3 doesnt die, but I dont know anyone that has gotten the YLoD

They had their problems due to being rushed out, but damn they were awesome to mod.

When Apple learns to add physical buttons onto their 'gaming' devices, then Sony should be worried. If they decide on analogue sticks (no idea how)..then be really worried! Touch screen gaming sucks.

90% of the time? yes! 10% no!

Say whatever you will, Sony's partnership with Ericsson still produces the highest quality phones on the market.

Toss in a PSP like gaming experience and I'm sold. IMO the Cybershot hybrid phones were the best all-in-one devices for the portable market to this date. I'd still be using my SE if I hadn't been robbed at gunpoint 2 years ago.

Cybershot
+
Walkman
+
PSP
+
Sony Ericsson
+
Symbian/Android

This is an exciting all in one device.

Possibility of that ever happening? 0%
