I'll definitely give this a try, but if it's anything like the Vita's Remote Play software it will be plagued with lag, video glitches and random disconnects. It's a pity Sony didn't bake this capability into the hardware like Nintendo did with the Wii U as that has always worked perfectly (albeit with the range limitation of the GamePad).

I do like to think that the Mac's wireless capabilities are head over heels better than the Vita's, though. But since it's still probably bouncing through Sony's servers, who knows

Going on a trip where you will have a solid wifi connection? Take your laptop and dualshock controller and you can play your ps4 wherever you are.
There's that. Then again, it might just be better to just put your ps4 in a backpack and bring it with you. Hook it up in the motel room

Can't wait to try it out! I'm hoping Sony considers supporting iOS with Remote Play, I'd love to be able to play remotely from an iPad Pro or AppleTV.

Coming from a keyboard & mouse gamer, I always have a hard time aiming with a console controller for FPS games. Now remote play with a touch screen? Thats definitely a big challenge.

Don't count on this working reliably without a physical ethernet connection. Better run out and grab an adapter if you don't have one already.

Yeah I'm not exactly expecting it to be perfect, it was more about providing an example of why you might want the functionality.

I use Remote Play through a PS TV to play my PS4 when its TV is being used. The PS4 is hard-wired through an Airport Extreme AC, and the PS TV is hard-wired through another Airport Extreme (with the 2 Airports connected via wireless.) It plays well enough, but there are moments of pixelation and lag. I'm not sure if the PS4 is going out to the Internet then back to the PS TV, or it's all done internally on my network. If Remote Play works just as well on my MBP while at my in-laws, then I'll be happy.

This is great because it means that sony will make official BlueTooth win/mac drivers for Dual Shock 4

I see that this claims to work over the Internet. But if people are complaining about lag in a home LAN, I cannot imagine the problems with lag over the Internet.

But what if I want to play Fallout 4 on my Apple Watch?

Use the dial to move forward / backward, aim up / down, but you can't do both at the same time.

"Working" at work will never be the same again starting tomorrow (if this works out well).

I was thinking along the lines of using a DS4 or MFi controller with the iOS device.

Totally agree with you though on the keyboard & mouse support. I'd play more FPS if they enabled that on OSX.

I don't think that will really work nicely.
PS 4 streaming over internet..? Wouldn't surprise me that a STABLE 10 mbps is needed for it being "playable" on low-rez.

I understand "in house", i.e. 300 mbps Wifi, etc. now.... (about the b*tchin' wife)

I wonder if the app will allow us to exchange messages with users on the Playstation Network. I am currently using BlueStacks to run the Android version on my Mac.

Well my 4G gets 30mbps+ let alone my home internet, so really in 2016 10mbps should be the minimum.

When I first heard about this for the Xbox One, I was hoping it was playing Xbox games streaming from the cloud and you can use just a PC without the console. I don't want to host the gaming system in my living room on premise to play Xbox or Playstation games on my PC or Mac.

remote party chat would be a nice feature.

So you can connect a dual shock to Mac? And use the mac only as a monitor?

See my comments above, yes, the controllers should hook right up (both USB and Bluetooth). Since this appears to be software only, the Mac (or PC) will run some kind of client application, you'll probably log into your Sony/PS account, etc., and select from the available games - not sure if this will be registered games you own, or if there's any specific requirement on the PS4 side (like a cloud install of some of the game[?]).

It's basically remote desktop/Citrix/etc., between a game machine for logic/rendering and a thin client for display/controller input.
