Now if only Bungie would let me move my Destiny characters between Xbox One and PS4 (leaving exclusive gear behind when going the other way...)

This is a great development; however, I wish the resolution was higher. I have a 5k iMac hooked up to a 100/100 Fios connection.

I wonder if this would work between my apartment in NYC and my house in Poland...Had to leave the PS4 there, and I kind of don't want to buy one for here when I am only here a few months of the year.

It should work with some lag, if you have great upload speed where the PS4 is and good download at the second location.

Microsoft, get your **** together. I don't want to buy a Surface to play my Xbox remotely. Mac support!

Good on Sony for developing this.

I feel you... and agree with you. If it helps any i've often play XBOX ONE using Win 10 in a VM and it's worked pretty well.

I have resisted a PS4 because I always wanted to hook it up to my iMac with no clean solution to do so. This looks like a wireless solution, but the two biggest issues I see are 1.) LAG, which would ruin the experience...and 2.) Resolution...even 720p on a 27" iMac wouldn't look all that great I don't think.

If there is any noticeable lag at all, it is not worth it for me. What do others expect for lag in a game like Madden where precise timing is vital?

Awesome, I'm looking forward to this update. Just in time for Dark Souls III release in a week too. :)

I presently use PSTV when I need remote streaming, but even wired, lag is noticeable on twitchier games. I really hope the lag is improved for the Mac client.

I would love it if MS opened up XBOX One streaming to Mac. I do have a Win 10 bootcamp partition, and xbox streaming works great on that, but it would be so much nicer to have on mac...

I would definitely say no for that distance. High latency = bad experience = unhappy player.

I must be a nitwit... I don't get it... why would you want this?

What does this bring on top of your PS 4 on a 50" TV..?

Play when you're away from home.
Someone is using the TV.
TV is in another room, but you wanna play from bed before falling asleep.
You wanna play from bed.

Remote play works really well on my 5k iMac using VMware fusion and Windows 10. Runs at 1080p between 12-16Mbps.

Don't need it now though after moving the Xbox one and ps4 into my office/man cave along with a 50" tv

I'll definitely give this a try, but if it's anything like the Vita's Remote Play software it will be plagued with lag, video glitches and random disconnects. It's a pity Sony didn't bake this capability into the hardware like Nintendo did with the Wii U as that has always worked perfectly (albeit with the range limitation of the GamePad).

I...maybe had the occasional hitch while using my PS4 via Vita Remote Play? Definitely no video glitches, no random disconnects.

I have a stable connection at home, but that's with a 3rd party modem and 2 third party routers where one is an AP. I wouldn't want to use remote play over an ISPs provided device, or even a cheap 3rd party setup ($50 or less.)

I'm excited to give this a try with my MBP, and my desktop PC. It'd be cool to play Bloodborne on one monitor from the PS4, while loading up a League match on the other monitor.

My girlfriend is amused when she sees me playing League, while having Netflix playing on the 2nd screen, and then the MBP doing something on the desk, meanwhile I'm texting or doing something on the phone. 99% of the time it's just a game and Netflix, but it'd be fun to have League and PS4 on the desktop, OpenEmu on the Macbook, and Clash Royale going on the phone. Hell, I'll bring the iPad home from work to put Netflix on the side as well xD

Then after that lasts not much longer than being candid photo worthy, I'll just go back to League and Bloodborne

The Mac's gaming troubles are solved! (With a $349.99 accessory).

Gaming troubles? I use OpenEmu a lot with a DS4 to play oldies, but I've also got Steam and Battle.net on OSX, and if I want to play League I'll switch over to W10 on BootCamp. That's a lot of options.

Macs are great for gaming, just have to be smart about what it's good at doing vs not.

I have very different experience of remote play to a lot of people here. I played a lot of assassins creed 4 on my vita during breaks at work, with no problems. On crappy work wifi and a not that special Home connection miles away.

I really don't understand how it's so variable for different people. I'm really looking forward to this.. The ability to basically idle and casually play Destiny for example while doing more productive stuff on my other screen sounds pretty great.

Make traveling so much more fun!!

Is it only for downloaded games or can I leave a CD in the PS4 and stream it?

Apple will be pleased to hear that Sony supports the Mac. I can see Apple convincing them to make a remote play app on Apple TV.

What ps4 games are compatible with remote play? I'd love to play Arkham Knight and Need for Speed Rivals on my MacBook and Mortal Kombat XL too

And here you see the "weakness" of Microsoft, where they need to always favour their own platform at the expense of others. Let's see how they respond to this.

ROFL you do know you're comparing them to Sony, right? They are literally the worst company ever in this regard. Every new device has some new disk format or connector, is full of bundled Sony-branded services you can't remove. That's when they're not installing rootkits.

In fact, this whole news story is about how Sony have been keeping this to the Vita and their own-brand Android smartphones until now!

Your contrast couldn't be more inappropriate

Dark Souls III? Remote streaming? With all those assets in DSIII the lag is probably going to be a ****show. Your wired connection may help, but sweet Jeebus, you're more courageous than me.

Well that's great and I really love the Remote Play stuff on PS4. I use my Vita to play my PS4 games sometimes and that works really well too.

I play most of my games on the console sat back on the settee. But sometimes I like how comfy my computer desk chair is! It just adds options. One could play a PS4 game on their old laptop in bed, or (if it works like Remote Play to Vita has the option to do) play your console anywhere in the world. I can also imagine this being a lightweight way to play games "on a PC" without having to worry about it overheating, or crashing, or without closing your work apps open.
