Sigh. Apple, you haven't completely lost me... but you've sure made me scale back. I've scaled back to such an extent that my 27" 2011 iMac is no longer my primary machine. In its place is a PC running Ubuntu Linux 12.04 "Precise Pangolin", in a dual-boot configuration with Windows 7 Pro x64 (which gets used very infrequently). I'm keeping the Mac around, but limiting its role to development and testing. Windows is also going to be used mostly for development and testing. Primary PC role now goes to the Ubuntu install.
In addition to that, I've made some huge, sweeping changes to my Mac's setup. The biggest change is doing away with Java entirely (along with all the applications I've written in that language). I've also given up some of my old legacy stuff - Mac OS "Classic" (pre-X) emulators (most likely will not work in Mountain Lion), virtual machine software for running other OSes (since I have a dedicated box for that now), CrossOver Mac (Wine on Linux is kept more up to date and runs better overall), and a bunch of other applications that I no longer need or use.
